Not sure if the businesses will be open but if they are it will not be until later in the day as on Jan 1 the city of Nassau will be having their annual Junkanoo, which is basically a musical street parade. We saw the one last year on Boxing Day and it was excellent. They spend all year working on their floats and costumes for this parade. Last year the businesses opened after the parade ended which was early afternoon.

Hope you get there in time to see the last of it. I had originally booked NYE on the Enchantment for this year just to see the Parade again but ended up switching to Christmas on the Liberty to avoid changing ships.

The best floats last year were the ones that had the theme "all things British" quite comical to see the Queens carriage pulled by the Beatles.

If the parade ends at 8:00AM, I will miss it!!!! The ship will arrive at 8:00AM and depart at midnight. I like the beach but not like to be there for so many hours, and we will stop in the private island the day before (too much beach for me). I'd rather go shopping. :(

Your shopping choices will be minimal - a lot will be closed

I am traveling in Enchantment for NYE. My concern is that January 1st will be in Nassau all day and night. Will the commerce be open, since is a holiday?

Wow! I just wanted to say how jealous I am that you will be on a cruise over New Year's Eve! How fun!

Have a wonderful time!

Tara

Thank you Tara. I went last year for NYE and it was a blast, that's why I'm doing it again.
