How Has QM2 Changed since 2004?

Just remembered when in ports (around the Horn?), there would be a VERY large banner down the side(s) of the ship, warning other ships to keep their distance; cannot remember the exact distance stated.

It is 50 or 70 metres, it still appears on occasional days. I have no idea what the criteria for displaying it are.

Another thing I remember to keep the pirates at bay were the 2 "noise" machines which would appear on the aft deck when deemed necessary.

iirc i saw them on a cruise into canadian waters when we anchored in a bay ?i thought what did the US do now to canada:D

I know how Cunard has changed. QM2 and the old QE2 are quite different.

But I'm curious to know what others think about how QM2 has changed. I first travelled on QM2 in 2004, when she was sparkling with newness. I think she still had some similarities to QE2 during her first few years also in terms of ambiance.

But since then, what changes do you think have occurred?

Also, do you think there is a different vibe on QM2 on different sailings during the year?

Thank you for this thread.

It's good to hear that RMS Queen Mary 2 is as beautiful as she was and continue to be the best passenger ship afloat.

What I don't like is the word Hamilton next to magnificent Queen Mary 2.

Hopefully, it will be changed to the only word that should be there.

Anyway, it won't prevent me from enjoying a cruise on this most outstanding ship again when I am as lucky as to take one. :)

I don't know about that, just answering what "stern chasers" are/were.:D
I hope that you and I aren't the only ones that can tell a stern chaser from a bow chaser. Don't they teach kids anything in school these days?

The ship has put on weight - the bridge wings were extended!

Very interesting responses.

I've noticed more ship's noises while at sea.

It is nice to be able to use a laptop in the stateroom.

The G32 hasn't changed much, but I still enjoy it anyway, and it often seems to be packed late at night (well, no competition).
