crochetcruise Posted October 24, 2014 #26 Share Posted October 24, 2014 Is this still classified for handicap or can anyone now book these cabins? It was described as such on Princess Cruises website earlier tonight when I went looking. That might just refer to the bathroom fittings though. I can cope with a standard able-bodied door using a walking frame, I do that every time I'm down the street shopping! HTH. Crochetcruise:cool: The doors are extra wide (for wheelchairs?). I think the reason the cabin(s) did not get accepted as "handicap" was because the entry door is around the corner. Maybe a tight fit for some wheelchairs or scooters.
san diego sue Posted October 24, 2014 #28 Share Posted October 24, 2014 I still wouldn't book this mini. Leave that great shower for someone that needs to sit down. I know anyone can book it. My feeling is I don't need it and greatful I can walk without aid, can use the mini bathtub instead, or fit in the standard balcony shower. They don't book this as a handicap room, otherwise I would never have booked it. Princess gave me that room when I booked a guarantee. I was disappointed at first because the info on the room wasn't great but when we arrived loved it! When I made another reservation while on board I asked if it was OK to have the same room or was it a handicap room and she said they don't sell it as handicap room but couldn't tell me why. We actually had some friends and one is a disabled person over for a cocktail and had to move the beds on top of each other for her to get around. Keep your ears open for people wanting to cruise who may need this facility and let them know about it. This will be a great help, this sort of information is more than a little challenging to find! I was wildly excited to find the information, now I just need to concentrate on saving to upgrade from a Balcony Disabled Accessible Cabin to the Mini-Suite! :D;) I can usually manage to stand in the shower safely, but when attending a Specialist appointment in my Capital City, was grateful for the shower seat when trying to wash my hair without falling over. Every time I come on Cruise Critic someone has posted some useful information, it's like your own personal tutoring service! cruiseclues Posted November 5, 2014 #31 Share Posted November 5, 2014 (edited) This looks like a handicapped cabin bath. Also looks like the cabin is set up like handicapped with the closets that are in those cabins. Howeverit has the Mini sofa set up but smaller. Looks like Princess was going to have this as a handicapped but too small inside for full access. Anyone know for sure? And what ship is this on, and do Princess ships all have same one. Thank you for your Mini-suite Photos...and on the question, "what ship is this on", is this the Caribbean Princess, the Star Princess or some other Princess cruise ship? :):):) Edited November 5, 2014 by cruiseclues

Sailaway617 Posted May 4, 2019 #34 Share Posted May 4, 2019 (edited) JF-retired RRT, any chance you still have the pics of D 732 that you posted here several years ago? Thinking about booking this room on the Star Princess, with my brother and 92 year old Mom for an Alaskan cruise. Would love to see your pics. Sailaway617 Posted May 5, 2019 #35 Share Posted May 5, 2019 Does anyone have a picture of one of these rooms D732 or D733 with the beds configured as a queen? Does this put the bed in the same direction as most mini-suites are configured? With the head of the bed against one of the side walls? Thanks! Yes, I still have the pix, but PhotoBucket killed the link. I haven't moved to a different sharing site. I've attached some from my files (hope this works). The second picture shows the fairly narrow space between the bed and the cabinet. Tight, but doable.
