cruiser02 Posted July 17, 2005 #1 Share Posted July 17, 2005 Any suggestions for excursions in Berumda? We prefer to do things "on our own." Not organized tour people but if there is one or two that are interesting or special. ANY suggestions of what to do in Hamilton and St George?? Thanks
Rare wishIweretravelling Posted July 19, 2005 #2 Share Posted July 19, 2005 If you are into snorkeling, there was a great snorkel trip last year that took you over a couple of shipwrecks. It was great--they took a small group on a zodiac raft. It wasn't available for pre-sailing booking, but was added when we boarded. It's run by a retired rock and roller. If they're not offering it as an excursion, the tour office might be able to hook you up with them to book independently.
ChatKat in Ca. Posted July 19, 2005 #3 Share Posted July 19, 2005 There are some very nice Taxi Tours right off the dock. They take a few hours and you will see most of Bermuda so you can make your decision afterwards. Our favorite was the Sunset Catamaran excurision. Jeanne S Posted July 25, 2005 #4 Share Posted July 25, 2005 The sunset cruise is Chelonia and is very nice; only two hours. Take the express ferry to the Dockyard and go to: Rum Cake and Glass Blowinging factories Clock Tower stores Indoor Craft Bazaar
KatWag Posted July 28, 2005 #5 Share Posted July 28, 2005 Cruiser, Like you, we like to just head out on our own. We took the ferry to the dockyard, explored around there, then took the bus to Hamilton, stopping wherever we wanted. (Somerset was one of our stops). Great way to really see the Island. Enjoy your trip! We loved every moment of ours. Kathy
DGRNcruiser Posted July 29, 2005 #6 Share Posted July 29, 2005 We did a Helmet dive from Hamilton that can be enjoyed by anyone 5yrs and over. You take a short 20min ride to a reef. One at a time you climb down ladder into the water and they put a fiberglass hood with window that rests on your shoulders and is attached to an air line. You con't down to the floor of the sea, about 15 feet and can walk around easily to see the reef and fish. A great way for non snorklers, non scuba folks to see what they have been missing. And my hair didn't even get wet! We also took a taxi from the dock in St George to explore the crystal caves rather then take the the whole excursion. We played golf twice, 9 holes each time I think. Arranged that before we left on our own. We all enjoyed the trip and loved the Celebrity- Zenith Have a great trip!
kruzwitme Posted July 31, 2005 #7 Share Posted July 31, 2005 Can you tell me more about the catamaran excurision? Do you sit on the netting??? I am interested in doing that onoe
Jeanne S Posted August 4, 2005 #8 Share Posted August 4, 2005 You may sit in the nets or anywhere else onboard. If the seas are rough there is a chance you will get wet, but we have not ecnountered this in Bermuda yet.
