If you don't want to do the train, you can try taking a bus into Port Authority / 42nd street and take a cab from there. There are never a shortage of cabs in the city.

Do the same thing in reverse when you disembark.

Train or bus if you don't want to drive. A car service might be an option, but along that line, maybe someone you know would bring/pick you up for a less $$$$ then a car service, and maybe about what it would cost for train/bus. Sure would be a lot nicer! We paid a friend to bring/pick us up in the past and it ended up being to both our benefit.
