Bringing wine onboard...

I know what the rules says - but in the past we have always brought a box of wine on board - right through security - no one cared. We didn't hide it and in fact was asked once what it was. I told them and it was a non issue.

 

Just wondering if anyone has recent experience - if they will turn away 'boxed' wine? We are on the Legend in 2 weeks.

I have no 1st hand experience but I have read on this forum that sometimes its allowed and sometimes not. It depends on the port and the people doing the check in.

 

since its technically against the rules I would say not to bring it but if you are willing to lose it, then you can take your chances.

 

edit - its against the rules if its over 750ml ( I think that is the number)

I don't think I saw anyone try on either of my recent cruises, but if you're willing to risk losing it, you may as well try. Good luck, but please don't complain too much if it doesn't work out. ;)

Never tried to bring on box wine, but DH & I always bring a couple extra bottles on. Never had an issue. There are some ports where they are more strict than others though, but we have not come across any of them.
