Excuse me if this has been answered before, I could not find it. We are doing our very 1st back to back on Connie in a couple weeks out of Ft. Lauderdale. How does that process work? We are not in the same cabin for the second leg, actually moving 3 cabins down the hall. How does that process work also?

Thank you for any information.

Here is what I posted after our Back to Back in San Juan this past Nov. This was San Juan but should be similar (it was similar to all other B2Bs we have done):

4. Room – Changing for second week

a. ... [removed, not relevant to this question]

b. ... [removed, not relevant to this question]

c. ... [removed, not relevant to this question].

d. ... [removed, not relevant to this question].

e. 2 days before our move we got a letter with instructions (kind of) in relation to the back to back process and our move. The letter only said if you are changing rooms you need to arrange it with your room steward and be moved by 8:30. I spoke to our current room steward and he said he would get one of the carts to hang our cloths on and he would contact the new room steward. The night before, right before dinner, we went up to the new room and found the new room steward and let her know what was going on. They were both very positive that the move would be fine.

i. We packed our stuff that morning (quick and easy pack job as it was only moving a floor, etc.) and left our hanging stuff in the closet.

ii. At about 8 I went out to ask our current guy what was happening and he said he would call the new people. At about 8:30 he came with a cart (that didn’t have the hooks for the hangers, so he left and came back with another one). He hung our cloths, and the assistant took our suit cases on one of the porter type carts and we all walked up to the new room.

iii. The new room was not ready, the old people had just left, but the room stewards had quickly stripped it and the safe was open.

iv. They hung our stuff up, we put our valuables in the safe and locked it, and our carry ons and other loose items on the couch.

v. We left our 3 large suitcases in the hall and our new room steward confirmed once the room was cleaned she would put them inside (which she did).

vi. We kept our passports in a ziplock bag with us, did the walk off the ship to do customs and get our new cards and then headed to the pool until the rooms were ready at about 1:00 (the doors are across the hall so we couldn’t access our room before that, but we didn’t ask). Our stuff was inside so we quickly unpacked and enjoyed the rest of the day.

Once you leave the ship, the person that is guiding you off will give you your new sea pass before re boarding. Enjoy your b2b, I am sure you will love it.

We will be doing one also this month but we do have the same room so no packing involved.

You have to walk off the ship and back on no matter what to do customs. In this case, we held up our passport and the in transit card as we walked but a customs guy, got our new cards and walked back on the ship. I'm not sure if in some cases they gives you the new card first, but this process worked well because you sign out with your old card as you walk of the ship, put it away and then get your new card to sign back onto the ship.

This process was the same for all B2B people, staying on the ship (i.e. not going to shore for the day), whether they had the same room or not. Some of the people we spoke to had the same room both weeks.

Thank you for the answers :) Since the room on the second leg is only 3 doors down we are hoping we have the same cabin attendent on each leg, which would help with the luggage transfer situation.

In our instance no Customs or Immigration will be involved.

We tend to do B2B cruises, and have found some variance as to when you receive your new sea pass cards. The B2B procedure seems to depend on how many B2B passengers are on that particular sailing. We've had as few as twelve, and as many as more than 300 other B2B passengers.

I suggest you tell your room stewart that you will be moving and ask if he/she is also responsible for your next room. With luck the person in your future room leaves early and it will be set up for you to move in as early as possible even before you get the keys. The room stewart might even make the move for you.

Around 9:30 or 10 am you will be escorted from a meeting point such as Michael's Club to customs and immigration after which you will be given your new keycard and escorted back on board.

Interesting, why not?

No customs & immigration procedure is required in European B2Bs. I'm not sure about the process in Asia or Australia.
