Was the cause of the Grandeur fire ever determined/announced?

Several agencies are still conducting investigations. US agencies include the The U.S. Coast Guard and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). They are joining the flag state and conducting a joint investigation to determine the cause of the fire. SOLAS (The International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea) is also conducting an independent investigation.

None of these agencies have filed a completed report. Usually reports of this nature take 2 or more years to complete. I would not expect any comments until the reports are complete.

Decision to prohibit smoking on balconies was decided prior to Grandeur fire.

The possibility of it being a cigarette was it's proximity to where the crew takes smoke breaks not a passenger.
