Question re smoking on Sapphire Princess SE asian cruises

First of all I am a ex-smoker, and you know what they are like (can't stand the slightest smell of tobacco smoke) - my apologies to present smokers!

 

I have booked a cruise on Sapphire Princess (11 night cruise visiting Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia) sailing in 2015.

 

Last night my wife & I were having dinner with some old friends, and I mentioned the cruise & where it starts & finishes. My fried said he has found from previous experience, that a lot of people from that region smoke, even on cruise ships.

 

I know Princess has rules regarding where you can smoke, and I appreciate those rules, but has anyone come across people smoking on various decks, eg. pool deck & bar, etc. My wife & I both enjoy one drink at the masthead bar above the pool, each afternoon after our swim.

I have sailed on the Sapphire and here are the smoking sections: deck 15 one side of the bar above the pool (sorry!), deck 14 aft - very small section, deck 7 aft starboard, casino and Churchill's. I think that's it.

The smoke from cigarettes was never an issue on the ship last week except in the Casino. A couple of times it was too strong to stay and play in.

I was on the Diamond in November and December, and we visited Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia (as well as Australia) on the first cruise. No problem with people smoking outside of their allowed areas.
