Which cruise line best for Alaska and why?

I've cruised with RCI twice and yes, there were children on board, but I didn't find it to be a problem.

I'm reading Frommer's Alaska Cruises and Ports of Call and you might find it useful too. It contains ship line comparisons. Your library might have a copy.

We want to book Alaska for 2015 but don't know which line would be best for nature-lovers who are older folks (75 and 60). We don't want to hike or fish or raft, but do like walks, nature, history, and culture. We'd like to avoid lots of kids (sorry, we teach them all year!), and like quieter crowds who are into learning. We're looking at cruise tours with HAL, Princess, RCI, or ? This may be our only trip there, so we want to choose the best cruise line for the area.

Have you checked out the companies that do Alaska trips on ships that hold 50 or less passengers? To me, they are the best. No kids. Everything is included. No casinos. No shows. Just neat places, flexibility and great scenery. You can go up to the bridge anytime you want. Beats a big ship anytime.

Your description is exactly what we experienced on Alaskan Dream Cruises.

There were no children when we went and only 24 other passengers.

Which ship were you on? We were on the Alaskan Dream when it was owned by another company. We loved it!!

We were on the Alaskan Dream. Very nice trip. Certainly a different experience being able to get into places that the larger ships can't. Kake was a treat.
