Gonna Cruise and Chill...um...ok?

For our next cruise in March, we have both been to all of the ports before so I am actually psyched to stay on ship most of the day in Nassau, apart from a little stroll around town. Never stayed on board before, might be nice to hang at serenity and get a good chair. St thomas and St maarten we are doing our own thing no excursions no rush. Will likely skip the MDR a couple few times too. Will not skip the bars and casino.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that has to be go-go-go while away. This will be the first sailing that I will ever been staying in a balcony. So yes, I want to enjoy that (since I don't know when I will get one again). But we (all 3 of us) are up by 6-7 am everyday...weekend or not we are up and awake. So I know we will have alot of time that we can enjoy the ship, more over then someone who sleeps and relaxes that way.

I can't tell you the last time I had a book in my hands that I knew I was planning on sitting and reading. Heck, the one I have now I will grab and read the same page over and over and just can't get into it. So I just can't mellow like that....

When we went to Disney 2 years ago it drove DH bonkers that I had to pick the restaurants 6 months ahead of time and pick what park we did what day. He voted for one day as a "resort day" and even that....I had us going to the park for a ride while we passed it on the monorail.

Thanks for all the suggestions and comments on this thread...i enjoy reading and knowing I'm not the only one out there and even when stay on the ship in port I'll still be okay!!

For me, depends on the ports.

Our upcoming cruise, we've done the exact same ports 2 other times.

Been to Cozumel I don't know how many times.

So, the only port we are definatly getting off is Roatan to just walk around the shopping area.

I love cruising for the ship too.

I will visit most lounges/bars during the day reading a book or just people watch.

I just like being on a boat (any) in the middle of the ocean bobbing along.

My favorite part of cruising is not having to be anywhere at any certain time! We always have our port days planned out, but sea days are completely lazy! Give me a chair in the sun and I'm a happy girl! We never eat in the MDR...just doesn't fit our cruising style!

Last cruise I had excursions planned non stop.

the cruise we are taking in May I have one excursion plus the Flowrider at Grand Turks...thats it. We're going to enjoy it...relax, wander around. Anytime dining, if we make shows, we make shows. I definitely want to try the comedy shows again though. I enjoyed those last time. I want to stay up late and sleep in a little...and find a good chair to relax in.

We've been to all of the ports a few times before, so we don't need to make any purchases, etc. We've been on the Pride before, seen the shows, etc. This time we're going to do whatever we want; no rushing to shows, no getting off at ports, just relaxing. One day, maybe just relax on the balcony with a good book.

I am an avid reader, but I'm finding it impossible to read a good book on our balconies. I keep trying but the ocean keeps lulling me to sleep :D:o.

You might want to be on anytime dining. There are spa specials while in port. My DH would rather sit with a book, nap or just relax while in port too ... not me, I'm gone. I want to explore & experience. I can do my relaxing on sea days. And just so you know - one of our largest bills was when he convinced me to "relax" ... well I did, at the spa. I relaxed enjoying just about every treatment they offer.

We usually do nothing! We love to cruise as you have the option to be as busy or relaxed as you want to be. We usually have a relaxed breakfast then chillax on the Serenity deck for most of the day! Then head back to get showered and changed for dinner. In 8 years of cruising we have yet to see a show or comedian! We enjoy wandering around the ship stopping here and there, grabbing a seat and drink and listening to the various bands. I don't want to feel that I have to be busy or rushing to be somewhere at a particular time! If we want to get off at any of the ports then we do but rarely do we prebook any excursions just incase we change our plans.

 

It's your vacation so do whatever makes you happy!

Yes, on Pride. LOL.

But the other itinerary than what you are doing, I think. 3 sea days of laying around doing nothing, and spent the day in port canaveral on the ship as well. We did go diving at both Bahamas stops though. That was our whole purpose. Cheap transportation for 2 days of diving :). Very relaxing. No fuss. Want to do it again soon

When I went on my first cruise 15 years ago, we were just off after 5 days at Disneyworld - I didn't have the energy to do anything on the ship but relax!

 

This time, we've planned excursions for Grand Turk and Nassau, but plan to just have a relaxing beach day at Half Moon Cay.

We do it all the time. After more than 50 cruises we have been to most ports over and over. We look at the week as a chance to chill on our balcony, eat and sleep. We may or may not get off in port depending on what we feel like doing that day. If we do get off it is usually just to chill at a beach. If we stay onboard it is nice to be able to enjoy the ship without the crowds.

We always get late dining. If the show is after dinner we might go. If it is before dinner we skip it as that would make us rush to get ready. We spent a week in Dec. on Princess in an S3 suite with a 12X20 balcony and left the cabin for the special breakfast in Sabatini's and a few dinners. We had lots of room service (lunch 6 of 7 days and 3 dinners). The beauty of their suites and Royal Caribbean's is you can order off the MDR menu during dining room service hours. They make it much easier and more enjoyable to chill than Carnival does.

Yes! We try not to run ourselves ragged on a cruise.

I cruise because

I can relax.

I don't have to cook OR clean up.

I don't have to clean my room. Though I do keep it very neat with everything in a drawer or closet.

My kids and husband can run around the ship doing activities.

I can lay in a lounge chair.

I can go down water slides.

I can go into port OR I can stay on the ship in my lounge chair.

I like the nighttime entertainment after my relaxing day.

For a mom of a 12 and 14 year old boys, cruising is a relaxing vacation choice for our family.

I'm somewhat of an in-between...I don't like everything being planned and I don't like no plans at all. We usually cruise with another couple and always do shore excursions, snorkeling, or beach time. We all love that. We all love eating anytime dining in the dining room. We all love the shows and comedy acts. We all love karaoke, etc. But sometimes I think geeeee...do we hafta go to another show...do we hafta eat in the dining room? I think some of our best times were on the balcony (cove with the divider open)...where we just sat, drank, watched the water, talked, and chilled. Of everything we have ever done...this simple pleasure is one of the best. :)

 

I think the neatest thing about cruising is that there is something for everyone and it is fascinating what makes different people's hearts sing. I've been on 10 cruises and have not yet been to one Trivia event. Maybe this cruise.

There's nothing like "planning" an excursion to the Serenity deck for a private day while most everyone else is in port!
