Can we buy the Soda car without the mug?

WE have bought the soda card before and the mug. Actually I found three from other cruises. Can we just buy the card and use an old mug?

You can but its not any difference in price I have so many I just leave them in my cabin now when I get off the ship

I think you need the new soda cup for the self serve machines to work.

If the ship has the freestyle coke machines, then you won't be able to use an old mug for dispensing soda from those as they have a 'chip' in the mugs to activate the machine which is only valid for the cruise where the mug was purchased. If you don't use the freestyle machines and just order soda from a bar, you should be ok.

 

If you purchase the soda package before sailing then a new mug will be in your stateroom on the day of embarkation.

Well, I guess you could but it isn't going to cost any less and if you are on a ship with Freestyle machines, you won't be able to use them with old cups. If you don't want any more cups, just toss them when you leave.
