Well, it is a good day. Though, I don't have a free cruise :(, I did learn a new feature of the Carnival website. I have a free 2-category upgrade. So, I need to learn how to handle this with my PVP since I already have 3 cruises booked.

I noticed that on mine as well..Now I already have a cruise booked and paid for, wonder if the upgrade still qualifies me?

I was checking the website yesterday afternoon and always check the tab under specials. Usually OBC or upgrade but there it was, free cabin. Was not planning on going until fall as I have a cruise booked through Holland America for March. I am Gold and last cruised with Carnival in October, don't gamble and the only drink at the past guest party or the free drink coupon. My PVP said totally random.

Got upgraded to 8b balcony on the Magic in June for $288 including taxes and port fees. I was so excited I'm still floating around. They offered about 100 different cruises, Alaska, 16 day Hawaii, but we decided on this due to expensive airfare from Denver and limited time off of work due to cruise in March.:D

Just called Carnival . Customer Service said these offers come from the Players Club

they said that people who gamble a lot get those offers. That makes sense to me. Carnival does not just pick out some people they like more than others to give free cruises or almost free cruises too. Bad business. Makes sense to me.

So I asked how do you get your gambling measured if you play the tables? MY DH plays roulette. He does not go to land based casinos at all. He knows his weakness and only indulges on cruises. ( He stays on a diet too. Will of iron...Not me. gambling not an issue..staying on a diet.........lifelong struggle)

So What you do.............any time you buy chips. At the cage. At the table. Pay with cash. Charge. BUT ALWAYS Show your Sign and Sail.

That is how they credit your money spent. Just always show your sign and sail, even when not charging to the room. DH always uses cash to buy chips and does not show his S&S card more than twice a cruise, I would bet.

So. Good thread. Found out what he is not doing. If we even got a small discount, that would be nice. and if not..It is not something we are not doing. He has a good time and he is lucky too. Not me. I can't even win at Bingo. Ever.

I did not get my offer through the Players Club. It was on the website. My PVP said they are totally random. Trust me when I say I do not gamble. Only go to the casino to walk through don't even stick in a random nickle. Also have never bought a drink on board the ship. Do book excursions and bought that $5 snorkle from them. Maybe that is the key.;)

I also got the offer in my "special offers"on the website. I have been on the website quite often for the past 6 months trying to decide on our June cruise. I looked at it Sat night and couldn't believe what I was seeing. I called right away and booked the 3 of us in a balcony, in June, on an 8 day on the Breeze, for 900 total. No idea how they decide who gets the offer. The only gambling we do is maybe 40 on the slots and that's it. This will be our 6th cruise on Carnival in the past 9 years with our last being last June. So we are hardly frequent cruisers. I called my dad and had him check his and he didn't have the offer. I had 200 in credit from a cancelled guest last year, so it was 692. I still can't believe it.

There is no way we could have afforded the Breeze otherwise, it would have been over 3500 dollars.

Congratulations on your good fortune!

From everything I have read, it seems like Carnival is using this incentive to get past guests back on board if they haven't cruised in a while.

It seems really odd to me that Carnival rewards those that are not their best customers, but isn't rewarding its best customers in the same way.

I guess the underlying message sent is that if you want the offer, you have to jump ship and avoid Carnival. :-)

So agree with this.

I just booked my wife and I on an 8 day balcony S. Carib from Miami on the Breeze for $408 total including gratuities. I went on 2 cruises last year and decided that was enough for awhile. This offer just arrived 3 months after our last cruise. Maybe it is some sort of random thing for all past guests?

I got this offer, also! I haven't booked, yet... wanted to do some sleuthing first to make sure that there isn't a "catch."

I think it must be completely random. I have been on a total of two Carnival cruises, and my last one was in 2010. I am the only person from my family to receive this offer so far. Also, I do not gamble.

I got a letter in the mail which was how I knew to check.

if feel your pain but believe you are spot-on as to your rationale. see my signature, we jumped after I got feathers ruffled after the past guest program changed.

DH (he who does no trip planning & plays less than I do in the casino) got letter from CCL today. I tossed it un-opened in shred pile. something made him open it. He's telling me he got a free cruise. I'm telling him it's a scam. Upon 2nd look the offer looked legit. I called...

let's just say I'm baaaack. :D deciding upon which southern cruise to book, which needs to fit into our pre-booked airfare/vacation dates. will cancel our upcoming cruise on RCCL. Rather funny I purchased TI today for the other cruise today. will cancel and hopefully reapply towards a cruise next January.

I received this letter in the mail today and I just returned from an 8-day cruise January 20th. I play very little ($20) in the casino each cruise and spend less that $100 overall on board. I never book excursions through Carnival. I must say, this has got to be a completely random selection. I just hope my DH gives the approval to take the offer. :) Fingers crossed!

so, we've eliminated it being for people who have not cruised in a while (I last sailed 6 months ago), big spenders (I am not), and high VIFP levels (no me again). the best guess I've seen, that applies to me, is doing the online survey after a negative experience. the squeaky wheels getting oiled?

I think I'll go to Belize, as I will be in Galveston in May anyway. Definitely, upgrading to the balcony.

My PVP CONFIRMED it was a random selection process, kind of like hitting the lottery. We booked Pride, upgraded to balcony, 7 days for $355 total. Think I will play the Mega millions tonight.....

My husband got Free cruise offer we are not gamblers at all.

We cruised last July and are currently booked in April.

So not sure why they targeted us since we are already booked.

Considering booking another with this incredible offer but not sure the dates work for us.

I was randomly checking cruises through the Carnival site and saw that the prices were incredibly low so I checkrd my offers under my VIFP number and I had a free cabin offer. I could book an inside and pay approx $80 in port charges per person and that is it. We booked a 7 day Easter Cruise with an upgraded balcony room for only $313 total for 2 people...Incredible!!!

My wife and I are Platinum Members, but have never received a free cruise offer before and on my last cruise this past New Years I only played $10 at a slot machine in the casino and that was it.

The only thing I did different is fill out a questionnaire after the cruise on Carnival's website so maybe that was it...Who knows.

I wish everyone luck in getting the same offer!!!

Thank you Carnival! :D

that is great!

I have gotten some good casino offers but no free cruise.

enjoy

I got the letter today and cruised with Carnival New Year's Eve. Due to our very busy schedule, we can only squeeze in a 4 day cruise. upgraded to balcony for 30 each. Can't believe it! Thank you Carnival!
