Just booked a VIFP free cabin on the Dream

Have any military people received these offers?

Does Carnival consider that they have already received discounts so they are excluded from this big give-way?

imho. that stinks.

I responded in another thread, we have only booked the generous military discount in the past with CCL and were thrilled to receive this offer. That said, I wouldn't expect them to exclude that category for whatever marketing reason since military rates aren't necessarily offered on all sailings/cabins.

My husband got the free offer too. Carnival said 1 million were randomly sent out. We got a balcony room on breeze 8 night in June for $348 total for a balcony. Crazy. We paid full price for our kids inside room across the hall though. But stil $2200 total for two cabins for 8 nights

My wife and I got the free cabins as well. We are taking another couple with us and carnival was fine with that. Two cabins on the fascination for $320. We last cruised on carnival in August of 2012 and are trying royal Caribbean for the first time later this summer. To cruise twice in one year is a dream come true. The funny thing is that I had been thinking about a cruise and had looked online at some but never could work it out financially. I just look at it as a blessing and I'm glad we are sharing it with my best friend and his wife. The key in that booking is the husbands in one room, the wives in another room. Carnival said that once we got on the ship it didn't matter where everyone slept lol! We can drive to the port we are going so instead of a quick weekend trip for the anniversary we will hit the high seas! The only question I still have is will my days at sea still count toward platinum status. I'm Gold at this point.

We received the free cabin offer and called Carnival right away. We were shocked to be offered such a deal. I gambled quite a bit on the slots, but I have only cruised with Carnival one time. I have, however, cruised with Princess so maybe they share information. We updated our cabin to a balcony and the total costs for my husband and I was a whopping $357.00 for a full week cruise. Not to mention, we are cruising right out of our home port so we have virtually no travel expenses involved to get there as family or friends will be kind enough to drop us off straight at the port. What a deal Thanks Carnival :)

Congratulations on your good fortune!

From everything I have read, it seems like Carnival is using this incentive to get past guests back on board if they haven't cruised in a while.

It seems really odd to me that Carnival rewards those that are not their best customers, but isn't rewarding its best customers in the same way.

I guess the underlying message sent is that if you want the offer, you have to jump ship and avoid Carnival. :-)

I don't think so. We just got off a Christmas and New Years Cruise this December with Carnival and we got the offer. We cruise at least twice a year with Carnival, and once every other year on different lines, so that is why I don't think they are only rewarding not their best customers or ship line jumpers.

UpDate on AmberTeka..who has been much maligned by the Flamers on this site.

I have moved on. You should too.

I cancelled my cruise on Princess.

I am booked on Celebrity in October. Good price. Free drink card. or OBC or gratuities. have until April to decide. I was PG. Got that discount. cost less..with discount..8 day cruise..than a similar cabin on Carnival. Very pleased.

New shows. (to me). New casino. ( to us) New MDR. New Buffet. New Activities. Shore excursions are stunningly less expensive. That was a surprise. Going to Saint Croix. Never been. Going to St. Barts. Going to Labidee.Haiti. Can buy another painting to hang by the one I bought in 1974. Feel like I helped a tiny bit. And I love my painting.

Cruise on Carnival next week. Even if I am the only person who paid for a cabin, It is a moot issues. My family will be there. The staff on Carnival is always excellent. I like the food. We have been on the Dream 3 times, and find the ship to be just fine. Clean. We have a Cove Balcony which I like a lot.

I want to cruise on NCL. I hear their casinos are fantastic and loose. I want to cruise on Freedom of the Seas and Allure of the seas.

I needed a kick in the pants to make me jump ship. And It worked out very well. I hope everyone enjoys their cruises.free or not. If I offended anyone, I apologize.

I do honestly doubt that I will book Carnival again anytime soon. but then MY DH gets military on Celebrity too. And NCL. Yet we have never been on RCCI. and long time since we have been on NCL. I don't even have a Celebrity....booklet. But I am going to get one today. Find ":my" cabin. look at the pictures. Read all of the stuff in the back. I have not done that in a long time.

All is good. Move on. enjoy your cruise. Happy sails to all.

Yet, you haven't moved on. You are still posting on every single thread related to this issue. I think that dead horse you are beating is dead.

This is a PROMOTION - not a REWARD for loyalty. When you book a cruise for your $, Carnival OWES you your vacation for that # of days - nothing else. If they OPT to offer a loyalty program, you get those perks. If they didn't have a loyalty program, would you still have cruised with them? If another company in the same industry has a better loyalty program and that is important to you, why haven't you "jumped ship" before this time? You were obviously pleased with every vacation and the amount you paid for it before this promotion, or you wouldn't have kept going back for more.

Another poster put it better - if you buy 25 lottery tickets, and someone else buys one and they win, is that fair?? Most of us are old enough to know that life isn't fair.

For some reason, people are driving themselves absolutely bonkers trying to figure out how, why, and what method was used for this promotion. I don't think it really matters - either you were offered the free cruise or not, and that is the end of the story. (For the record, I was not).

I'm disappointed I didn't get an offer, but I'm hopeful I still might. In the meantime, I will continue to book cruises based on the criteria I always use, and Carnival may win my business or not, but this promotion will not weigh into my decision.

Well said!

While I am not driving myself "bonkers" trying to figure out the how's and why's of this promotion, I will admit that I am quite curious as to how and why. Despite what some of the alledged marketing expert posters have claimed, at this point it seems as though they randomly chose VIFP numbers. I am just happy that my DW hit this particular lottery!

I agree. I looked at my VIFP offers...10% discount on 3 day trip to Cancun...so glad I have given my loyalty to Carnival.

I was randomly checking cruises through the Carnival site and saw that the prices were incredibly low so I checkrd my offers under my VIFP number and I had a free cabin offer. I could book an inside and pay approx $80 in port charges per person and that is it. We booked a 7 day Easter Cruise with an upgraded balcony room for only $313 total for 2 people...Incredible!!!

I got the same offer!! Leaving Saturday 03/29/14 for a seven night Mexican Riviera/balcony room and paying a TOTAL of $331.16 (not per person...THAT IS TOTAL!!) Amazing. I sailed with Carnival 09/12, and gambled some, but not enough to warrant a free room! I'll take it though. Enjoy!!

I got mine sometime in January, I think? I don't remember exactly when.

Thanks, but I was asking the other person who just joined and is going on the 29th.

Oh well, I was just wondering if there were additional offers being sent out.

Still excited about my "free" cruise in June - too bad I can share it here. Enjoy yours, Beachy! :D

We receive these offers frequently. The ones we get are ship/date specific, you usually have about 6 to choose from. My husband And I both receive them, and yes we do gamble in the casino. Our offers always include credit to play in the casino, always different amounts.

We just received the latest offer, and after talking to about 3 different carnival reps from the phone number they listed I finally got one who was very helpful in helping me to get a cabin in the aft... But then --- she tells me we can have the Grand Suite for a total of 700.00 per person for this 8 day cruise on Freedom... My husband always tells me not to book anything but the aft but with this offer you never saw somebody jump on a deal so fast ! Have never had a Grand Suite so am very excited.... Oh, and we both get a nice amount of cash back in the casino as well...... I'm so stoked
