no fuss travel Posted February 13, 2014 #3 Share Posted February 13, 2014 It is a long drive there and back. We saw less animals at this reserve than any of the others in South Africa. The Oceania tour left early as it was very hot and quite a few passengers could not handle the heat. We were on a private tour and felt that the ranger was more interested in showing us the beautiful views rather than finding animals for us to view. Those of us in the jeep were pointing the animals out to him to stop for rather than him finding them. Of the safaris we took, this one was the most disappointing. treasure4two Posted February 16, 2014 #5 Share Posted February 16, 2014 We did not visit these countries off a ship's cruise, but on 2+ weeks land picture safaris in each location. You all are going in what we would have in the US, like the later part of May-the seasons are flipped. It is getting toward the warmer part of the year. We went in July to both Kenya and Tanzania(2006) and South Africa(2011), which was like their winter. The weather was wonderful-cool/cold in the early morning and early evening, but just needed to be wrapped in blankets. The afternoons were beautiful. Most of the animals are sleeping in the early afternoon in the other areas other than Capetown. We had an unbeliveable time and the important thing to see was the animals, except in Capetown, which has more sights than animals. The vehicles you will probably be in are like open Land Rovers with like 3 levels, each higher than the one in front. So, my opinion, is if your choices are sights or animals, pick animals. Safaris, whether one day or two weeks, are a trip of a lifetime.

rallydave Posted December 17, 2014 #7 Share Posted December 17, 2014 Interested in tour to game reserve Dec. 18 from NauticaJames and Sue Hope this is not tomorrow?? In any case, see that you are new and posts such as yours belong on your roll call and since I don't know what year you are traveling, can't find your cruise. You need to go to roll calls, Oceania, Nautica and then keep looking down the roll calls and psssibly go to the next page and further until you find your roll call and if it isn't there, start your own roll call including the start date clearly including the year. Cruise Critic rules state that posts such as yours are not to be posted on this board and only on your Roll Call. Hope this helps,
