Tipping European tours

What kind of currency do you tip guides for tours you take in Europe (Greece, Rome etc) euros or dollars?

I'd always recommend tipping local guides in their own currency unless it is specifically mentioned that other currencies are welcomed.

In the countries that use "Euros" you should tip in Euros. The reality is that nobody wants US Dollars (unless you give them hundred dollar bills) since you cannot spend them in most places.
