im going to try after day one and visit the cruise consultant. Tell him I might be interested in purchasing 4 more future cruise vouchers lol ... maybe that might be able for him to do something lol

Worth asking, but only if you REALLY are going to buy 4 more - vs. might be. And assuming this is only an ask, and not a demand.

Not tired of something like this.

Only tired of people DEMANDING and COMPLAINING and WHINING about not getting something like this. You all know the posters that would come here and complain about terrible customer service because the were short only one point... blah...blah ....blah....

If I were him my response would be "OK sit down, and complete the paperwork for that transaction"!!

It would be nice if they would grant you an exception if you only needed one point to be platinum and gave it to you when you got 75 points. But then if you had 74 points you would only be 1 point away so they would have to grant you platinum when you had 74 points. But then 73 points would only be 1 point away so .........................

This is how I see it. (Recall I upped my points after asking if my past cruises not recorded could be added based on some old key cards that I found.) In this sense...I asked, while being hopeful. And it was granted. After all the cruise was completed. I also understand the point program started on a given year and prior cruises weren't captured. Simply ask nicely and check if it is within their working procedures. If not u have to play by house rules.

In the case of being 1pt away and not on a b2b...the rules are for completed cruises. Sounds harsh but the rest of us played within the rules. For b2b seems like there can be some flexibility for those passengers. After all they completed a cruise that upped their points just need the computer to update.

And finally, if a passenger was able to sweet talk the Latitudes rep on the ship...please keep it to yourself. It's called DISCRETION. I'm sure we all were given something extra or special at some point or another. And just like casino hotels they can comp to some degree. They may have procedural allowances, but not to the point where pax should feel demanding, or worse...entitled. No there is nothing wrong with making and inquiry framed around good intentions.

But the more we all post on how to skirt the system will affect the current and future policies. Then we may all be very unhappy.

(To clarify I love CC! It's how I learned to cruise. I just think there are some things better left unsaid.)

I've cruised over 20 times, but spread around different companies so not really that high up on the points with anyone. I'm 28 points off platinum but I have a two week on Jade in the summer in a PH, that was booked 11 months out so I should get 42 points

Just hope the perks are worth it when I get there :D

Now that's how to build up the points!

Hi,

My suggestion is go to the meet and greet.

Introduce yourself to the hotel director. If there is a certain perk you want like the free laundry...let him/her know you are one point away....is there anything he/she can do to help.

Good luck. Of all the perks I do like the free laundry.

Points are awarded only upon completion of cruise, that is how the latitudes system works. We did b2b 7 night cruises in Sep/Oct last year, and reached 77 or 78 on completion of the first leg. Therefore for the second leg we were "platinum" but were not recognised as such, because the NCL system does not update until 48 hours after a completed cruise.

We did not receive any platinum benefits on the second leg, despite the fact we had clearly achieved platinum status. We were so unhappy to be treated like that, we considered "boycotting" NCL for future cruises. Glad to say we decided not to be silly about it, and have just returned from a most fantastic Panama Canal cruise on the Star. All Platinum benefits were in place, and NCL do extremely well for us in that regard.

Too bad you didn't think to talk to the onboard cruise consultant. She could have changed your status the second day of your second leg since that was 48 hours after your cruise of the first leg. That is what we did on the Sun when we changed tiers to silver after first leg of b2b.
