ho-hum

Anyone, anyone?

We have those two evenings free, if anyone will be on Barbados and wants to meet for drinks and/or dinner. We can talk smack about ho-hum :D

We will be staying at the Hilton, and have a rather large hotel credit to apply to a bar tab, but could meet just about anywhere. Be the first to cringe at the sight of ol' Ragnar! (Well, the first ...IJ denizen anyway, other hapless CC cruisers have suffered that fate before... Quoting one of them on the Xpedition - "You must be that Ragnar guy!")

We board the Windstar Legend, bound for Aruba, on the 5th.

cosi gentile Abenaki

...... and have a great time yourself

Has someone been checking Hum's post to TrapperZ ?

Good work. Bravo

Now Hum sees the avatar for Commander Courageous as a "caped crusader".

Something along these lines maybe.

Hey "(Break) Wind; Star" (known as Sundance to SDers)

Do Windstar have a "Meet & Mingle" facility on Cruise Critic ?

Maybe you should try out your very generous offer, there ?

Unfortunately they would not know Hum but you could regale them with your "parking stories" whilst in France on your trip there.

That had everyone captivated !

Haha

Never heard a road trip in France by a guy with OCD before.

Haha

Hum can see Butch doing the maths right now, computing the cost of flights out to Barbados and a few nights stay against savings on those drinks !

It's damn close !

But would the "light be right" ?

You know Butch is fastidious about those kinda things.

Anyways, you have a great trip, you hear.

Maybe you could give us a few reviews when your back.

PS you can skip the stories about ship mooring though........still to soon after "parking stories"

Hey, it is Mrs. Sundance (aka Ragnar) that has the thing about "the light". For me if my eyes are open, it is light enough.:D Bon Voyage Sundance. Don't get caught in the rigging.......you know the rest of it.

Well Hum has said "au revoir" to those frequenting the Crystal site on Cruise Critic.

There have been a few lingering thank yous for their best wishes but Hum has effectively returned "home".

It is you dearest chums whom Hum will report to about the Espirit.

The "chosen ones".

Don't you feel so very special.

Indeed......ehh Cabbie.

We are off very soon.

Flying Emirates to Dubai.

Our electrician who came in yesterday to complete nearly a years "odds and sods" of work around the grounds and estate mentioned to us that he too will be on the same flight !

What an amazing coincidence is that, we both felt.

We could even be sitting next to one another, he said.

Hum quietly thought to himself (hmmm if we are sitting next to one another then Hum has definitely been paying you far too much money ! If you get what Hum is saying).

Hum chose the, "that would be fun" response.

Yes Dubai, a ghastly place generally with some atrocious attitudes t'boot.

Hum generally takes the views of respecting cultures: and he will. But real "respect". No.

Though Hum has some sympathy in the banning women from driving, surprisingly.

Well how on earth can they drive safely in a full "burqa" ?

They couldn't see traffic coming in from the side.

(Sorry for that sexist humour but seriously, it is ruddy ridiculous and demeaning to our "sisters").

Having said that Blondie has chosen a rather fetching "off the shoulder", diamante ensemble burqa herself.

And in heels, naturally.

That will give the girls something to talk about at the mid-morning, watering hole "meet up".

We are staying out in the real desert in tents.

No, not ordinary tents. Posh ones. No surprise there.

Hum wishes to indulge in star gazing and feel the oneness with the Universe and ponder how small he is in the scheme of things.

Of course you have known Hum as being "small" for quite a time now.

Yes we have stars in the posh part too but there is light pollution and it is damnably cold to view.

Hum mentions the desert Hum doubts there will be much internet (if any).

And Hum is going to set aside the mobile devices for a while.

Even on the Espirit !

Yes Hum will make notes but to be posted later.

Think about it.

Of course Hum realises his "cover" is blown already.

And just between us there has been a lot going on already........some wonderful, some a tad disappointing.

Rest assured Hum's report will be extensive ...... every minuscule detail will be examined.

For example did you know that when Hum was onboard SDII in winter EVERY meal was rated.

Yes EVERY meal; breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Hum rated the three weeks, 10** (2 star). 10. 10.

The chef was the Executive chef Sudesh: a man whom Hum admired more a d more as the weeks went by. A thoroughly decent chap. Always happy to share the accolades with the Kitchen.

Now here's some gossip. His lady wife (who is super nice, refined and a beauty....oh and so smart...in a nice way) won the "best in show" or some such thing in India for being the best "something or other". She works for a very highly reputable hotel group. So you see Sudesh and his lady wife are an extremely talented pair.

Oh and they are so nice.

So promise to look after yourselves whilst Hum is gone.

Look in on Jim from time to time, make sure he is eating properly.

We have to look after one another here.

That is the SD way.

Missing you already.

Well Hum and Blondie's "swish" Crystal documents arrived a few days ago and we will be off quite soon !

A lot to do before our travels commence though.

Hum will naturally report about Espirit to those that have shown interest.

But, it will be on the SEA DREAM YACHT CLUB site under ".....idle jottings".

You see, there appears to be more interest by "small ship" cruisers than there has been by the "big ship" cruisers that normally "hang out" here.

Don't worry when the report is ready, Hum will let you know.

But for now Hum will be returning to the Sea Dream Yacht Club site.

Thanks to you all, especially the very nice ladies and to Keith for being such a "good egg" !

Oh and the wonderful Cruisn'Life !

Hum's missing that guy already.

If you're out there still, pop by (SDYC site) if you're passing.

Ragnar, unfortunately, we'll be coming off SD I and heading home as you

embark on Windstar.

We have done both Windspirit and Windsurf and think you will enjoy

yourselves. We enjoyed Windspirit more, due to it's size. Acommodations

were nice, as were the crew. Food on SD, better!

Anyway, have a great time and give us your feed back here on your

return.

Ooops. I didn't realize we shouldn't be posting actual pictures of ourselves. Now everyone on SD will know who I am. At least I remembered to use a pseudonym.

Haha

Jim's avatar is a "spitting image" of Jim in the "flesh", right down to the hat, beard and pipe ........ maybe a few years younger (the avatar, that is) and in real life you also get the strong smell of fish too !

Quite over-powering...best position yourself down wind of the Legend.

Haha

I am sure you meant "upwind". Downwind I smell like a million roses covered with Bulgari.:D

From the postings on the WS board I don't get the impression WS cruisers would be very much fun... And they would likely run away screaming at the sight of ol' Ragnar. But it will be nice to have the pool deck all to ourselves :p

Have a great trip ho-hum. And swat any camel noses that appear under the tent flap.

I wanted to mention that he's actually going to be boarding Esprit, not the other (misspelled) name. Just an fyi. It's only two syllables.

Anyway, I believe that to be correct.

Thx for letting me visit you-all here!

Good heavens May !

You're absolutely right !

Thanks for the correction (esprit not espirit)

Hum was obviously adopting classic old French ....... that's the consequence of a classic education dear May (Eton - Cambridge - Sorbonne - Wormwood Scrubs !).

Oh the trials we elite have to bear in this vulgar, vulgar world.

Oh and the "dumbing down of language" !

The "Frogs" are generally aghast at this kind of thing.

"Sacre bleu" !

Sorry gotta go, ruddy camel sniffing round bottom of canvas tent !

Raggy did warn Hum.

No doubt "sniffing out" the bottles of champagne (camel not Raggy ....... though maybe ?) bought at Dubai Duty Free on arrival by Emirates (yes First Class, of course !).

Shoo, shoo !

Nice to see you here May.

Time for you to "get a round in" at the TOYB (top of the yacht bar to you) for all of us that hang out here, to "cement relations" (drinks are all inclusive actually.....it's our little "in joke"... ......yes quite pathetic but this crowd are easily amused; the consequence of a rather "shoddy" American education system if the truth be told. Well what do you expect out of Harvard and Yale !).

Dearest ho-hum,

gcmv has a suspicion about your "electrician".

Ho-hum mentioned in several posts, that the sparky was unable to do a good job - but he works all the time at Hum's castle.

Now he even flies together (NEXT TO HO-HUM) with him to Dubai!?!?!?

Gcmv knows the underlying reason for this: He is not your electrician - he is your probationer ... :D:D:D

And the complete story is, that hum would not like to bring him on SD (where everybody would ask ho-hum about the "shadow" following him the whole day) - so he choose Esprit for his next cruise, where ho-hum is an "unknown quantity" and the "shadow" is his bodyguard! ;)

Have a good time, old chum - and enjoy every second on Esprit together with lovely blondie! :)

You rotten, rotten scoundrel Herr GCMV !

Hum's advice to you is, get a "ruddy" good lawyer old chap because Hum is going to sue you for millions of Marks !

All that money you are making in overtime repairing all those "dodgy" VW exhaust systems will be Hum's !

Besides Hum's probation officer has agreed that Hum only has to report to the local police station once a week !

And no longer has to accompany Hum.

So there !

Haha

Great bantering with you old friend.

Love to Frau GCMV

PS Don't be late again for golf on Saturday !!!

Haha

Now that you mention it, I did get a whiff of camel on SD in January. And camel certainly smells worse than fish. Thanks to MayB for setting His Eminence straight. :D

Hum back to his Bedouin roots.

Aaahhh.......the call of the desert

The smell of camel.

Ewwww.....

Have just offered Abenaki some very revealing photos of Hum in his weakest

of moments. Sure to cause a stir among Idle Chat aficionados.

Negatives can be obtained by money order or credit card payable to

the Commander prior to world wide release. They will certainly pique more

interest than the soon to be released bio-pic currently being pruned to

6 1/2 hours.
