Hi All,

We are on RCCI Freedom of the Seas in a few weeks and will be in Grand Cayman for the day.

What part of 7MB would you recommend for a family - kids will be 8 and 6 - somewhere to spend a couple of hours, playing in sand, a swim and some nice lunch.

And also how easily will we be able to get a taxi back to the port? (not getting one is my total fear!!)

Also how far is it and approx taxi costs.

Many thanks for replies

Go to the bus...$2.50 pp...and head to Seagrape Beach....there are umbrella/chair rentals, food, drink, restroom and watersport rentals. You don't need to bother with taxis! It's so easy! Just allow yourself time back to port...the roads do back up with traffic in the afternoon, so allow about 45 mins for the return trip! Its only about 10 mins with no traffic! The bus is right across from the tender dock....looks like a big van...not a big, long bus!

We went to " Public Beach " in February, IMO Public is more family friendly, there is a playground, restroom with outside showers and if it is not windy they have the water toys that kids like to climb on for 12.00. Taxis are right in the dropoff parking lot.

I walked up to SeaGrape beach and the wave action has removed a lot of the beach leaving very little area for loungers. It was wall to wall people.

is there places for water activity besides diving? the web doesn't seem to bring much up, unlike Cozumel where is seems the beach will be stacked unless you go to the windward side. I will have 3 teenagers in tow. thanks

We were there a few days ago (March 3rd). We went to Royal Palms beach club (on 7 mile beach). We took a cab and it was $4 per person, and took about 10 minutes to get there. Price to get in to Royal Palms was $2 per person and if you want chairs they are $7 per chair, but you can also just spread your towel on the sand. This was one of the nicest and prettiest beaches I've ever been to. Beautiful white sand and crystal clear water. Just lovely. They have bathrooms, outdoor showers and changing rooms. Also a restaurant, but we didn't eat there. They have a pool but it is only for adults. Nobody goes in it anyway. The beach and ocean is all you need. When you want to leave the cabs are lined up waiting for passengers. You might have to wait 5 minutes because they like to fill the van, but it won't take long. I asked the taxi driver on the way about getting a taxi back to the ship and he explained that they would be lined up waiting for passengers and showed us exactly where.

On the 7 mile beach, what is the difference between Royal Palm Beach and Seagrape Beach? We just want a place to lay in the sand/sun/shade with restrooms. Is there a cost to use either of these beaches?

Royal Palms has a pool, no kids at pool. There is a 2.00 admission charge at RP and a beach chair is 7.00 but you can sit at the pool for the admission price.

SeaGrape or also known as Calico Jack's has more of a island beach vibe, 2 chairs with umbrella 25.00. Seagrape now has a beach erosion issue leaving little space between chairs and surf.

Both have restrooms, showers, food and drink. Plenty of cabs for your return.

Seagrape is in walking distance of Public Beach and Tiki Beach club. Royal Palms is closest to the ship.

Caribsun, so are you saying Royal Palm Beach is a "pool" and not a beach? We want beach with SAND, not a pool. The Seagrape (Calico Jack) doesn't sound bad, except you said it was starting to erode. Is there a charge to use the beach, or just for the chairs, etc.?

Are there any food stands at either of these places?
