deb2172 Posted March 16, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 16, 2014 I haven't cruised in about 4 years but you use to be able to buy 4 drink coupons for like 21 or 22 dollars. I don't see them anymore do they still have them. They were great cause I would buy a few of them each month before the cruise. Anyone know about this? Thanks
Tutontow Posted March 16, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 16, 2014 They did away with it and changed it to "Cruise Cash" Check out this link http://www.fodors.com/community/cruises/carnival-replaces-its-bar-drink-coupons-with-cruise-cash.cfm
Shaded Lady Posted March 16, 2014 #3 Share Posted March 16, 2014 Great- that article says they'll accept the paper coupons only through Feb 2014. Wouldn't you know it? I have a bunch left over from my cruise 2 years ago but we're not cruising til October! If I'd known that, I'd have found someone travelling on a Carnival cruise and donated the coupons, so at least they wouldn't have gone to waste! I believe Carnival extended the date. Someone will have the details for you out here.

Sue Do-Over Posted March 16, 2014 #8 Share Posted March 16, 2014 The Cruise Cash doesn't appear to offer any benefit, other than pre-payment. The drink coupons were a discount, making them worth the effort. Unless I was giving Cruise Cash as a gift, I don't personally see the value. Am I missing something? IMHO they offer nothing. Also, they are "Use It or Lose It" meaning if you don't use it on that cruise then Carnival keeps the remaining monies you did not spend. You can cash out at the casino if you don't use it all if Cruise Cash...Cruise Bar...from what I understand is for the bar only and cannot be used in the casino, so if you don't use it, you lose it. The drink coupons were a discount, making them worth the effort. Unless I was giving Cruise Cash as a gift, I don't personally see the value. Am I missing something? I must be missing the same thing! If I was inclined to pre-pay, why would I use Cruise Bar Cash which is only good for beverages (or Cruise Photo Cash which is only good for pics) according to the Carnival site, when I could buy Cruise Cash and use it for everything? And like you said, there was a benefit to the coupons. This new plan is just a way of paying down what you plan to spend so you don't get hit so hard at the end... seems a waste to me but maybe for some it's a convenient savings plan.
