starryeyedlady Posted March 16, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 16, 2014 Does anyone have any hat packing tips? I bought a straw like fedora hat for my upcoming cruise but don't know how to pack it without destroying it. Should I just wear it on the airplane? Shmoo here Posted March 16, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 16, 2014 (edited) Does anyone have any hat packing tips? I bought a straw like fedora hat for my upcoming cruise but don't know how to pack it without destroying it. Should I just wear it on the airplane? I have a Greg Norman-type hat (straw, wide brim with a sash tied around it to make it more feminine :D). I just wear it on the plane, day or night. I have, on occasion put it in my backpack with my jacket around the main part of the hat so the brim doesn't get crushed, and other items inside the hat so it doesn't get flattened. DH has the Men's version of this. If he wants to take it on a cruise, he just wears it. LuLu
starryeyedlady Posted March 16, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted March 16, 2014 Thanks! I guess I will just be really cool and rock my hat onto the plane.
Lerin Posted March 16, 2014 #5 Share Posted March 16, 2014 My dh has a hat like that. He puts items such as socks inside and places it in the suitcase. Then carefully packs other items around it bing sure to find small items(such as more socks) to pack around each and every crevice. Works like a charm! cb at sea Posted March 16, 2014 #6 Share Posted March 16, 2014 Stuff it with clothes...preferably stuff that doesn't wrinkle....put other clothes around it...or wear it.
5326jan Posted March 16, 2014 #7 Share Posted March 16, 2014 Don't put it in the overhead bin of the plane. People have no respect for softer items up there and will destroy your hat with their overstuffed carry on. :( Saw it happen to some man's hat. He was not happy when he retrieved the broken bits of straw.
