Can CC please explain how the choice for Viking

just because they offer MORE cruises does NOT make them BEST.

 

Agree that since they re the largest they sometimes DO offer new itinerary and new ships first with more sailings.

 

But,as with the Viking CHataux probs.discussed.One can often find similar on other lines the next yr.As now both Uniworld and Scenic have added this.

Avoid first cruises,they usually need to work out the kinks(as it seems the above has now?):confused:

Viking was the first at least I ve seen that offered this Bordeux France one.Now others are.That s the one I was referring too.

The wine and chateaux cruise in The Bordeaux region by Viking is new for Viking only. CroisiEurope is in its third year now, I believe, with a similar itinerary. The three companies have similar itineraries because, quite frankly, the rivers in this area by nature do not seem to give much of a possibility for variation.

The polls and rankings are strictly for informational purposes only, despite the aggressive marketing that usually accompanies them.

I should think most travelers are savvy enough to know the difference, after all caveat emptor stills applies.

The only way one could properly assess the highly subjective good/better/best designation is by having an accredited team of judges - across a given demographic profile - with objective metrics randomly traveling on the cruise lines, for equal and multiple visits, and even then some will like purple and some green.

After a couple dozen cruises I only had one poor experience (was not on a river cruise), and that wasn't so bad in hindsight.

Do your homework, ask around, get a travel agents input if you will, but then take a good bet that you will have a great time and book it, the odds are squarely with you! (must be Kentucky Derby day!)
