beshears Posted March 20, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 20, 2014 We are planning on being in Grand Cayman the first part of May of this year. We are not into snorkling, but like the beach, and checking out the area. If you have been to Grand Cayman within the past year, what would you suggest that we see/do that is NOT expensive, but can be done by touring, walking, or taking a Taxi? OCruisers Posted March 20, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 20, 2014 7 Mile Beach is lovely. It's easy to take a taxi there. :) LuLu ~~~
jaasb0808 Posted March 21, 2014 #3 Share Posted March 21, 2014 I second that, just take a cheap taxi ride to 7 Mile Beach. Sand is amazing there, lots of things along the beach too.
cb at sea Posted March 22, 2014 #4 Share Posted March 22, 2014 A guidebook will give you an overall view of everything that's available.... Shopping is right across from the tender dock. There are buses that run to the beach all day long....easy to do on your own. But, go to your library and check out a guidebook! A little info goes a LOOOONG way! beshears Posted March 25, 2014 Author #5 Share Posted March 25, 2014 Ok, so if I go to 7 mile Beach in Grand Cayman, can anyone tell me the cost of a Taxi to get there? We are trying to decide how much "money" instead of a credit card, do we need to take care of in paying with cash.:)
Capt_BJ Posted March 25, 2014 #6 Share Posted March 25, 2014 (edited) there is nothing to do on Cayman that you'll think of as inexpensive your US $1 is 80 cents Cayman and nothing on Cayman is 'cheap' a cheeseburger will run $10 to $11 CI, add 20% for the currency conversion and another %20 for the tip .... or keep it simple .... you need to add 40% to the menu price frozen drink .... $9 CI draft beer $6 CI and UP cola: $4 CI (and check on refills b4 you hold up your glass . . . .) an example: http://paradiserestaurant.ky/bar-grill/lunch/ *********** almost everyplace other than a taxi or the 'bus' takes plastic . . . curacaoqueen Posted March 25, 2014 #7 Share Posted March 25, 2014 You can go to a Tortuga shop and try samples of rum and rum cake for free.
beshears Posted March 27, 2014 Author #8 Share Posted March 27, 2014 Thank you for letting me know that food/drinks will be expensive in Grand Cayman.
chanat Posted March 31, 2014 #9 Share Posted March 31, 2014 Yes, I will agree food is very expensive there. Hope to eat a big breakfast before getting off ship for our visit in Dec. Glad to hear 7 mile beach isn't too far from ship. We did stingray city last time. It was fun but prefer to just hang out on a beach. does anyone know if you can snorkel there? beshears Posted April 1, 2014 Author #10 Share Posted April 1, 2014 What is a Tortuga shop, or what does it look like to check out the rum, or rum cakes?
