When booking a cruise do you go for the ship or the ports?

I book mostly for itinerary but this most recent choice of the Breeze was a combination ship and itinerary

As with most things in life- it is a combination ! In actual fact-- the sail dates and pricing are of premier importance.

80% of the time, I sail for the ports, followed by the ship (combo of both) because I personally do not like the new giant ships and would prefer a smaller quieter ship.

 

However, in less than 3 weeks I am heading out on a ship and itinerary that I don't particularly like because the timing and price were too good to be true.

 

Any day at sea is better than a day at work!!!!!

We book for the ports. We've been to the Caribbean, Alaska, and New England/Canada. Now the ports we want to visit are farther and farther away.

Both - independently and in combination. Sometimes its the ship, sometimes its the itinerary, sometimes its a nice balance of both. But always its because its a cruise.

Then I pick whatever ship is going where I want to go. Although I'll do some research on here. If I've got 2 or 3 options for the same or similar itinerary and one ship is having trouble, I'll book the one that has better reviews.

Definitely the ports - we're working on our "bucket list" of places we've always wanted to see. Then I check to see which cruise lines go there and compare itineraries and prices to narrow it down. We're both retired so time of year isn't a problem and at this point we're taking longer cruises to get the most bang for the buck from any airfare.

That depends on what we want from that particular vacation (southern carib). Our last vacation we chose by itinerary....our next is the ship itself. (Allure)

It all depends. We try to do a combination of both.
