bailey57 Posted March 25, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 25, 2014 Has anyone been able to get a better solo rate on RCI than 200% (or thereabouts)? I want to take the Brilliance out of Tampa on 4/17, inside is fine, and my cost solo would be over $500. If I can find someone to go (unlikely), less than $300... Any ideas, thoughts, suggestions, or should I just pay the ransom?
bailey57 Posted March 26, 2014 Author #2 Share Posted March 26, 2014 Hm... should I assume no replies means no one knows, or has been able to get a better rate? Surely someone here has tried to sail RCI as a solo...
nonnie&dgd Posted March 26, 2014 #3 Share Posted March 26, 2014 Ever since they changed to double points for solo, 200% seems to be the norm. You can catch their going going gone sale every week at http://www.creative.rccl.com/Sales/Royal/Multi_Dest/Special_Offers/rci_sales _event.pdf The sale starts on Monday for Crown and Anchor Members and Tuesday for all others. Some times there are supplements for under 200%. I got a 140% rate just before they changed the points.

I was quoted a 200% rate on Princess until I started working with a travel agent, who got me about 150%...for a cruise this past Dec and one I'm going on in April. Not sure if he could do the same thing with RC or not. If you have one and he can't, I'd be happy to offer you mine's contact info. I'm not sure if all travel agents are created equal when it comes to access to rates.
bailey57 Posted March 26, 2014 Author #5 Share Posted March 26, 2014 Thanks to you both. Bummer about the 200%. Figures, huh. No agent. I'm just poking around online at the moment. Usually use one specific site for that, as have had good experience with them. I need to make a phone call or two... I really appreciate the offer above - I may take you up on that. Thanks again! :)
bailey57 Posted March 26, 2014 Author #6 Share Posted March 26, 2014 Well, I called one of the online consolidators and talked to RCI directly as well, no OBC, no discounts, nothing available to offset that 100% premium, not for this particular sailing anyway. Not sure your travel agent would be able to do any more than that, but I could talk to them if you want to send the info (can we do that on here?). csbarton Posted March 28, 2014 #7 Share Posted March 28, 2014 Yeah, I guess we aren't allowed after looking over rules. If you contact a travel agent and they can't get you a better deal, then it's possible no agent would be able to. So it must just be a cruise line thing. Like I said though, this will be my 2nd Princess cruise and I paid a single supplement of 150% or so for both.
crzndeb Posted March 28, 2014 #8 Share Posted March 28, 2014 (edited) Some of the RCI ships have allotted single cabins, and you will not pay a supplement. However, you also won't get double points. I know the Serenade is one ship, and hopefully others can chime in on others. Debbie Edited March 28, 2014 by crzndeb
Justmekaren918 Posted July 11, 2014 #9 Share Posted July 11, 2014 Here are some cruises that are as low as 125% supp. http://link.tapatalk.com/api/click?key=a7e5ffb24b9e84f4f4f6bbd88aa4e5b8&out=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.creative.rccl.com%2FSales%2FRoyal%2FMulti_Dest%2FSpecial_Offers%2Frci_sales_event.pdf&subId=2300d8171ca46be1ee5a72d2837c1b6d

RCCL added three studios yo a couple of ships. The Jewel is scheduled to get studios soon, too. Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app
Stallion Posted July 29, 2014 #11 Share Posted July 29, 2014 (edited) I thought it was strange but in last couple of days I've seen some lower prices- on the Oasis- using my AMEX card services when booking single only that I couldn't duplicate on the RCCL site or the other usual suspects. They might be having a special deal. But the deal wasn't as good for 2 passengers-I think it amounted to about $250 off double occupancy Edited July 29, 2014 by Stallion
Luke104 Posted July 31, 2014 #12 Share Posted July 31, 2014 Within the last six months or so Royal's solo rates are just terrible! I had some good rates before that, but recently I have abandon ship on Royal. I went with the competition and I must say I'm glad I did. But in closing I did find a great solo rate on the Brillance for this November (Got it about four months ago). It's a five day cruise out of Tampa, going to Cozumel & Grand Cayman, for $372.00 total with $65.00 obc, but I believe those days are gone.
