Beach and Drinks Recommendations

"First time poster here,

Wife and I are going to be in Cozumel next week on the Carnival Glory. We have booked excursions for every other day, and are wanting to find a beach we can hang out on, maybe with access to some beach shack with drinks. I know about Mr. Sanchos, but I was wondering if anyone knew of any options that may be cheaper, and/or how to get to them?

We don't need any all inclusive options, we'd be happy to pay for drinks/lunch as we go. We are just looking for a relaxing budget beach day. Any suggestions?

If cheap is the most important criteria in your search for a beach day, then:

1)Paradise Beach with $3 fee for loungers and food/drink purchase and additional fee for water toys.

2)Mr. Sanchos ala carte side. (smaller pool than AI side, same beach)

3)Playa Palancar which is free, but the furthest from the pier, so a $20 cab ride, versus $17 to the closer beach clubs.

4)Money Bar which has a tiny rocky beach that is the best free choice if you want to shore snorkel. (but not a huge sandy beach like the other clubs)

Hope that helps start your hunt.

Paradise Beach and Mr. Sanchos will be about a $16-17+tip cab ride each way; the fare covers up to 4 in a cab, so pair up with other cruisers to save $$

Cab fare to the Money Bar will be about $10+tip each way (again, for up to 4 in a cab) - great place to relax and snorkel, but no real beach. Your call.

You can purchase a bottle of rum and soda at the Puerta Maya pier for about 15.00 and then walk over to the sandy area in front of Panchos Backyard.

BYOTowel :D

There's also Playa Mia similar to PB and MS.

For a hint at the south-eastern shore, there's the Paradise Café bar (aka Rasta's/Bob Marley's) which sits just past the left turn in the road at the end of the island. And a little further up is Albert's new place. Albert's Beach, the original one, is next to Playa Palancar and is similar in amenities as Palancar. They recently took over an older east side beach resort.

In short, OP, plenty of options at reasonable costs without having to do the AI route or overpay for an excursion.
