Using on Board Credit in the Casino

I've looked a couple of the different offers T&C's regarding OBC and the only thing is states is this:

 

Onboard Credit has no monetary value and is non-transferable. It may not be used towards onboard service charges or pre-purchased activities.

 

No where does it state that it can't be used for the casino~

I've "spent" my unused non-refundable NCL OBC by withdrawing cash (and being charged 3%) at the casino cage on a number of occasions, the last times being in October on cruises on the Gem and Breakaway.

 

So, if you can no longer do this it must be a new rule.

For those who do not know, the CAS no longer sells its promo chips through NCL. I do not think they have any play promos at all any more. The thing that the other person was mention is a third party site that has caused a lot of discontent here recently, you will have to research that yourself.

No, you can still do this. Your OBC is basically just a discount applied to your final bill, whatever it's composed of. Shore Excursions charges, Specialty restaurant charges, drink charges, and yes, cash advances in the casino. They're all applied as charges, and then your OBC is applied as a credit, leaving you with the final balance to pay.

OBC can not be credited towards any Casino play.

 

However......I'm not sure about OBC that you can purchas before your cruise

cruise to keep on your account.

It is not being credited toward casino play. It is taking a cash withdrawl, as I clearly explained. Did it three times this month on three different ships so I am 100% sure I am correct.

Are you saying the letter I received last month on the Getaway from guest services was not true ?????

It's possible that the Getaway, being brand new, has a new accounting system that allows it to distinguish cash withdrawals from the casino from other onboard purchases or expenses and treat the cash withdrawals in the same way it does the daily service charge, making it ineligible for payment from non-refundable OBC. That would explain why your experience on the Breakaway was different from our experience on other ships.

What I do know for sure is that at the end of the cruise CAS will deduct $$ from your bill but won't touch any Casino money that's on the bill.....

But that's not what we're talking about here.

For us it really matters, lol. If we cash out, lets say 200 dollars, at the casino desk, and leave 200 dollars of the OBC in the account to use against this, it would be really annoying if we had to spend the OBC in a hurry the last night AND pay the 200 dollars from the casino separatly.
