Celebrity Today

Yes! I have scanned all the material that was placed on our bed at the end of each day. I know there are a lot of folks on here that love to look at the dailies so i will not disappoint.

Okay! I have to share you with my rules I have with "MY" Celebrity Today's that Donna must follow. Actually they are unwritten rules until now but, Donna knows that she must be very careful with them and must not wrinkle or put any crease in them. Because I want them to be in perfect condition so I scan them. In the morning I go to guest services and get "working copies" that we use thru out the day. Come on I now there are other people on here that do the same thing. Do the honest thing and fess up now!

Let's Finally Get Something to Eat

So we all probably know what flag this is that flies at the aft of the ship. The Georges Cross of Malta. A country that sure has seen its fair share of sieges from early history right up to World War II. I watched an "Air ACES' on the history channel one evening and watched a very interesting show on one of WWII greatest Spitfire Aces know as the "Falcon of Malta" he was a great Canadian war hero by the name of George Beurling who help defend Malta against axis attacks.

We had planned to have lunch at Bistro on Five good thing because every table and chair was taken at the Ocean View and it was still not open from the surprise inspection. We were able to get a table for four and actually sat in front of Mpace58 and StillLearning from our roll call. This was our first time we ever tried Bistro on Five and really like it. An excellent place to escape the rush of Ocean View on day 1 and well worth the $5 cover charge. That is our roll call partners behind us. We never got back to Bistro but wished we had of.

Porn Food Alert! Must of time of I forgot to take a picture of food or was half way thru it and remembered. Here is what I had the "cowboy" I think. I liked it.

CE14HX_%25200032-XL.jpg

Staterooms were available around 1:30PM and we probably first got to our just after 2:00PM. Don't you just love opening the door to your stateroom for the first time to see all the treasures layed out on your bed?

CE14GW_%25200205-XL.jpg

I had seen this picture before of a white bag on the bed of a Aqua Class room and never new what was in it. The secret is out... Slippers and the Celebrity Bag.

CE14GW_%25200211-XL.jpg

We knew from Cruise Critic that there was probably going to be a 50% discount offer for the first night. Yes! we did take them up on it.

Next up Sail Away from our Balconies and our WAVE to the Port Everglades Webcam.

The Sail Away and our Wave

Just one more picture from the stateroom or should I say the bathroom. The toiletries that come with Aqua Class. I liked the lip balm and the Shampoo. Like most women Donna took her own Shampoo. I have to get this out in the open and be up front... I kept putting the extra shampoo tubes in my shaving bag. I love to close my eyes when I am at home in the shower and use my Celebrity Shampoo and think I am cursing until I re-open my eyes.

CE14HX_%25200047-XL.jpg

Before our cruise I sent an e-mail to Port Everglades Webcam requesting a Wave. I described our location and that we would have a Canada Flag taped to Glass didn't bother mentioning we would also have a Prince Edward Island Provincial Flag taped to our glass because who outside of Canada would have clue what it is? We have the divider between our two balconies open.

CE14iD_%25200085-XL.jpg

View of HAL Prinsendam. the only other ship in with us.

CE14HX_%25200073-XL.jpg

The View from or balcony back to the 17th St Causeway Drawbridge.

CE14GW_%25200214-XL.jpg

On the Sail out if you look real close you can see that one on those real nice houses actually have their own "FlowRider". Unfortunately today nobody was using it.

CE14HX_%25200100-XL.jpg

Can you see us coming into view on the webcam? We had friends and family back home here on PEI watching for us. For the record I did purchase this video from SmugMug and captured the pictures from it.

The Sail Away and our Wave Cont'd & Silk Harvest

Our cruise was off to a great start and thank you very much to Port Everglades webcam for zooming in us. We were on our iPhones taking to folks back home. Our Son, Adam, texted us a screen shot of our wave. We were very excited to see that and truly was one of the highlights of our trip.

How is this for a zoom in on our wave? Can you pick up on all my cameras video taping the sail away?

PESailAway04-X2.jpg

For those not in the know... This is were the Port Everglade webcam is. The second balcony(third floor) from the ground you can see the camera.

CE14HX_%25200106-XL.jpg

A jubilant selfie after leaving Port everglades.

CE14HX_%25200119-XL.jpg

I am hungry it most be time to eat again. We took Celebrity up on their 50% discount offer and booked Silk Harvest. This would be our first time eating at this specialty restaurant. I love Chinese food. Let me re-phrase that I love Western Chinese Food not real China Chinese Food. Silk Harvest has a nice selection of Western Chinese Food. Lots of Choices to pick from.

CE14HX_%25200124-XL.jpg

Donna and I typically like the chicken, beef, pork, rice, and noodle. Yes! we are from PEI and we don't like sea food. We are your typical meat and potatoes people. Picture of my plate before i dug into it.

CE14HX_%25200139-XL.jpg

Before we left the specialty dining area I snapped a picture of Blu Dining menu to see what we missed the first night.

CE14HX_%25200141-XL.jpg

We went to the Equinox Theatre to catch the first night show which gives you a sampling of what is to come. There was a very funny comedian by name of Fred Klett we made a point to put that on our dance card. During the pre show they popped up a slide that gave the general make up of the nationality of the Guests. If I remember Canadian were third around 600 UK second with around 800 and the US first with about 1400. That is a lot of Brits and Canadians.

Phew! I can't believe it I finally finished day one. Hope you are still with me and stay for the rest of the journey. Hopefully tomorrow evening the power will not be flickering. But Could have an other 20-40 cmd of snow on ground, Come on already it is April 1 not January 1.

Regards,

Kevin Reid

Rough Seas First Evening

Forgot to mention from the first evening how rough the sailing was. I have to give Kudos to DW, Donna, for hanging in there with us at Silk Harvest.

CE14HX_%25200133-XL.jpg

The next morning while I was taking pictures of the sunset stuck up a conversation with a crew member and he even commented on how rough it was last night. He said that he works on deck 2 and normally feels no motion down there but, was actually feeling the motion that first evening.

Enough is Enough

Just got home from work and not even able to drive into my driveway had to leave CRV at top of diveway. If this sounds like whining it is. 27cms of new snow today that is on top of last weeks 53cms.

Sea Day #1 Sunrise - CC Meet & Greet

I love to get up early, grap my cameras and then go up on the top decks and catch the sun rise breaking the horizon. I like to also video the sunrise then speed it up via time-lapse. I would love to show you one but, i have not downloaded any of my videos yet. The Celebrity Today is a great source to find out when the sun is rising and setting. That is how i set my alarm if I want to catch the sun rise. For first day at sea sunrise was at 7:08 AM. Here is a pic of the sun just breaking out over the Horizon. The clouds didn't really cooperate on any of the mornings. You usually run into the same few folks during the balance of the cruise doing the same thing.

CE14HX_%25200221-XL.jpg

This next shot is with the rising sun on my back casting an orange glow onto the Lawn Club.

CE14HX_%25200240-XL.jpg

Our first experience with BLU would be our first breakfast on board. The hostess from Blu was just fantastic she was from France (sorry don't remember name) and your would never now that she was just into her first contract. She came across very professional and swear she was a seasoned veteran. Donna made comments on how graceful she would walk across the Blu floor. What a great first impression the Blu Hostess gave us. Sorry I don't have a picture of her I normally don't take many pictures of staff.

Here Ken and Norma Jean are getting their tableside muesli prepared. Me not into the muesli thing I am more of an plan white omelet and bacon type of guy.

CE14GW_%25200246-XL.jpg

But I do love these chocolate croissants. I had two each morning and sometimes even more than two.

CE14GW_%25200662-XL.jpg

One of the cool things about Cruise Critic, in my opinion, is the roll calls and hence the Celebrity sponsored Connection Party (Meet & Mingle). Generally there are lots of people who sign up but ends with a quite a few less actually attending the meet greet. We didn't have an overly active roll but Mpace58 did a great job on voluntarily keeping the lists updated and Still Learning organizing the Slot Pull.

CE2014_Env_CCinvite-XL.jpg

Between breakfast and the CC Meet & Greet 10:30 we did a little tour. The Sky Lounge is such a nice place and we rarely ever get up there. Here we are just relaxing in Sky Lounge.

CE14GW_%25200268-XL.jpg

Up Next Meet and Greet and Cabin Crawl.

Meet & Greet & Impromptu Cabin Crawl

Before I get to the Meet and Greet... on all of the Celebrity ships they have arts thru out the ship. I think I like this one as my favourite for the Sky Lounges.

CE14GW_%25200271-XL.jpg

The entrance to the ensemble Lounge / Specialty Dining, deck five, also has a different theme for each ship. I didn't really remember this one from 2010.

CE14GW_%25200264-XL.jpg

Anybody familiar with this picture? On the CD channel they were doing their first night show from this spot I had no idea where it was. Until I walked past it in the Aqua Spa area.

CE14GW_%25200273-XL.jpg

The meet and greet was held at Cellar Masters at 10:30 AM and approx. 40 people attended. Sorry but I don't remember any other person than CD Paul attending on behalf of Celebrity. Beth unofficial MC'ed the festivities and I think about seven participated in the gift exchange. As I type this I am just finishing up Still Learning's (Kathleen) Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Caramels. Yummy! I let Donna have just one. While the gift exchange was going on Addie and George organized an impromptu Cabin Crawl. We ended the crawl at their S1 Sky Suite Cabin.

Along the crawl we stopped at our two Aqua Class Cabins then down to Still Learning's accessible Cabin. I think it was a Concierge Cabin. Kathleen please correct me if am wrong.

CE14HX_%25200243-XL.jpg

Here is a picture of some of our Cabin Crawl gang on the Elevator.

CE14HX_%25200246-XL.jpg

The last stop was Addie and George's (Wintrystew) SI Sky Suite. I just love their aft corner placement. Picture of us on their huge corner deck.

CE14HX_%25200257-XL.jpg

Just a couple more crawl picture in the next post.

Completion of Cabin Crawl

Hey! Norma Jean Looking pretty fine on S1 Sky Suite rear balcony.

CE14HX_%25200261-XL.jpg

Addie and George served champagne and a tray of delicious packages of peanuts I had two and took one for the road. Cabin Crawl finished up just before 1:00 PM so we rushed down to MDR for lunch. Still Learning was down their waiting for a table so we made it a lunch for six. This lunch was actually the only time we ate in the MDR and the next time we stepped foot in there was the second last sea day for the Celebrity Life Galley Tour.

Afternoon Wandering

After lunch I did some wandering and snapped a few pictures along the way. Here is the crowd lounging around the pool on a beautiful weather Sea Day. The women were also soaking up a few rays but, I was born with Irish skin and the direct sun and my skin tone do not agree. I wear lots of sun screen and always wear a baseball cap when I am outside. I basically came back the same colour that I left.

CE14HX_%25200271-XL.jpg

There are quite a few solar arrays on the S class of ship and camouflage very well into the ship.

CE14HX_%25200276-XL.jpg

While passing thru the Oceanview Cafe I could not resist having a can of Coke and a slice of pizza. The Oceanview Cafe was probably the main spot were I got the most use of Premium Non Alcohol Package. Service was generally very fast and always polite.

CE14GW_%25200284-XL.jpg

I really only did have one slice but, I did have two Coke. Notice that glass with the pop in it? I finally figured out that I should just use the Blue plastic ones because they hold more ice and less likely to tip over. I love lots of ice in my pop. (in eastern Canada we also call it pop not soda)

CE14HX_%25200280-XL.jpg

Then I was busted... Donna caught me having a slice so I figured it was only fair that she should also indulge in a slice.

CE14GW_%25200297-XL.jpg

After our pizza slice we went back to cabin and then spent a few minutes in the Relaxation Lounge. Our Cabin was only about 50 steps to this room and at the end of our hall a doored opened right into it (actually the door was always open during the day).
