For those of you with CPAPs

Recommended Posts

Do you "check" it in your bags before you board the ship? I have been dragging a small suitcase with it to lunch, and looking around before you can get into the cabin. Sure would be nice not to have to lug that thing around lol

We carry it with us in its case. We also take a backpack with meds and any valuables. We sit with them at lunch until cabins are available. Then we put them in the cabin and explore the ship at that time.

Read a post once that described a situation in which a CPAP that was in checked luggage, was damaged upon arrival to the cruiser's stateroom. When the individual complained, the cruise line determined that the CPAP machine was essential equipment for the cruiser's health, therefore he was escorted off the ship prior to sailing. Guess the cruise line paid for the repairs to the CPAP, but the guest missed his cruise. I would never put my CPAP in checked luggage!

Hi

some ships have a drop off place that you can drop carry on luggage until our room is ready. I think you need either luggage tags on the luggage. Depending on the time you get on the ship...we will stop at the room -- and if we see the room steward we ask if we can put the cpap in the room and will come back later when the announcement is made.
