2xited4cruise Posted April 7, 2014 #1 Share Posted April 7, 2014 (edited) So after weeks of lurking and reading posts and reviews I think I am finally appropriately prepared for my upcoming trip! I am going with a group of 10 on the 4/18 sailing of the Carnival Splendor. My group is very "traveling imparred" and I am expected to be the de facto tour guide. So I have a couple of questions for the experts that I haven't seen anywhere else. Does the Splendor have Video Roulette Tables? Will there be special events (activities) on Easter Sunday? How does the burrito station compare to a Chipotle burrito? Has anyone discovered the best time to get to the Manahattan Cruise Terminal? What are the chances of the NHL playoff games being broadcast in the sports bar ? Thanks for your help! Rare shof515 Posted April 7, 2014 #2 Share Posted April 7, 2014 How does the burrito station compare to a Chipotle burrito? its ok, it does not have all of the filling as chipotle and sometimes the chef making it does not know how to roll the burrito correctly. making the food sometimes fall apart :(
wmowan8485 Posted April 7, 2014 #3 Share Posted April 7, 2014 Very Likely that the NHL will be shown in the sports bar... :)
Crusin Karen Posted April 7, 2014 #4 Share Posted April 7, 2014 Does not have video roulette. Never heard of it! I have no idea if they will have something special for Easter. I would imagine they might have a special menu, but that's just a guess. Maybe you could go to John Heald's blog and ask him. Have a great cruise. We will be on Splendor next month for the 3rd time. :)
JamieNYC Posted April 7, 2014 #5 Share Posted April 7, 2014 How does the burrito station compare to a Chipotle burrito? Has anyone discovered the best time to get to the Manahattan Cruise Terminal? What are the chances of the NHL playoff games being broadcast in the sports bar ? Thanks for your help! I was quite disappointed with the burrito :( nowhere near Chipolte quality ... having sailed from the MCT many times, I'd say getting there before 11 is best ... last October, the MLB playoffs were on in the sports bar so I would imagine the NHL playoffs would be too ... bm6pm5 Posted April 7, 2014 #6 Share Posted April 7, 2014 Will probably have an actual Roulette wheel in the casino.
XLRATION Posted April 7, 2014 #7 Share Posted April 7, 2014 There is Roulette but not video roulette. Not sure but I have been on board during St. Paddy's day and they had ctvities for that. I was not a fan of the burrito bar. We arrived in front of the terminal at 11am but the traffic took us until 12 to get to a parking spot on the pier. My advise if you drive in is to have a local give you directions on how to come out on the side street directly across from the ramp up to the pier. Coming out south of the pier ( as our GPS directed us) and driving up 42nd is a nightmare. Sports bar behind the Casino should show the playoff games and if they don't ask if it is available. Thanks for your help! -Roulette, but not video -If a pastor is on board and volunteers to lead a service, it may happen, but don't hold your breath. The last thread on a similar topic (Passover) was locked by the way. -Not Chipotle quality, but still quite good -Anytime from 10:30-2 -NHL will probably be on as long as the feed is working Happy cruising! NewtoCruisewKids Posted April 7, 2014 #9 Share Posted April 7, 2014 We boarded Easter of 2013. There were a couple of activities for kids but that was it. No special menu. Two roulette wheels, but no video roulette Electronic hold em poker though Burritos were average - never has a chipotle burrito, but have had Moe's and Qdoba and the ships burritos were not up to the challenge there, though were fine for lunch. Can't help you on the sports bar Have a great cruise!

We have on rare occasion found that a priest was sailing with a group and did a mass that was posted in the fun times.

We sailed last May and it was still chilly on the lst sea day. We sailed in Feb. and it was warm and sunny the lst sea day!:eek: The Splendido pool has the retractable roof, so if you want to sit at the pool, it is no problem if it is cold. Liner aft pool (adults only) is open, tho.
