LimeGate! Will a lemon do?

Hey All,

 

Took a 4 day cruise on the Constellation a few weeks back. Had a difficult time enjoying my Premium Drink package.

 

 

Why?

 

NO LIMES!!! I think I have a lime in every drink I like?

 

Has anyone else experienced this on their recent Celebrity cruises?

 

Or..is it just Connie??

The price of limes has gone out of sight due to bad weather and theft in Mexico. I heard on the news a few days ago that the price of a case of limes had risen 5-fold. The lime situation is expected to improve this summer though.

Oh well....we are looking at a cruise in April 2015 and another in June 2015....hope they have LIMES by then!!

We have had problems with lime crops damaged by heat waves here in Australia also. Probably a small amount compared to Mexico, but I hope they are back to normal supply before too long!

Forget smuggling booze on board, guess I'm gonna have to smuggle limes on my next cruise. My DH and I always get limes in our V&T or G&T. Lemons just won't work.

No limes last week on Connie either. It did not faze me, because I don't like limes in my drinks. I only like limes in salsa or on mexican(ish) food. DH was disappointed when he ordered his dos equis and corona and got a lemon. Have not heard that about lime prices sky rocketing. I will have to check next time I am at the grocery store. I know that milk and meat prices have gone way up here- which I find funny since cows and other animals are pretty plentiful in the midwest.

I didn't realize how bad it was until I saw the posts on CC....so I went to my local grocery store. Limes were $1.79 EACH!!.....guess there really is a problem! :(

We thought about smuggling limes onboard while in Key West.....but I was chicken....

 

....welll...I DID for get ONE lime that was in my pocket....:D

Although we were not on a cruise ship, we ate at Chili's last night. "The One Who Must Be Obeyed" ordered a Corona and I told her not to expect the usual lime with it, especially since it was a chain restaurant and they are known to cut corners. We were surprised that it came with a real lime wedge, albeit a small one!

 

I am surprised that Celebrity does not have them since Celebrity is usually a cut above the other mainstream lines.

No limes last week on Reflection. I didn't think it would matter but lemons just didn't cut it. I went without instead of substituting. It was the first time I realized how prevalent limes are in my drink preferences. :(

Unfortunately Celebrity isn't the only one that doesn't have limes. There are other cruise lines that don't either. There is a serious lime shortage and everyone is affected. I went to our local grocery store the other day and they were 1.79 EACH!! I'm not happy about it either, but not a whole lot I can do.
