Dalcross Posted April 8, 2014 #1 Share Posted April 8, 2014 Hi, I'm sailing on the Adventure in May, and it's currently in drydock having flatscreens fitted. Does anyone know from other ships with LCD TVs whether they have an HDMI or scart port so I could hook up an Ipad or similar to play my own movies? sailing with a 5 year old so would be good to have backup for this early morning. thanks! Clarea Posted April 8, 2014 #2 Share Posted April 8, 2014 It's possible, but I'm not sure. They are putting new TV displays onboard, and someone reported being able to select the HDMI input on Navigator, which was also very recently refurbished. mo&fran Posted April 8, 2014 #3 Share Posted April 8, 2014 (edited) They do have the HDMI ports on the back, but you ma need a generic Samsung remote to select that input choice. The provided remote has only the functions they want you to have. BTW, I neve tried this, but others say they have. Dalcross The Grandeur has the flat screens and we were able to connect a DVD player. We had bought a small cheap one that has a remote.
edjny Posted April 8, 2014 #5 Share Posted April 8, 2014 I brought my tablet with an HDMI output on it to play movies on an HD TV on our last cruise on Freedom. I loaded the tablet up with movies and brought along an HDMI cable. The Freedom has HD televisions in the room and I plugged in my tablet to the HDMI plug in the back of the TV. Then the fun began.... :( There was no way from the remote to switch to the HDMI input. There is a push-button on the side of the TV to switch between different inputs. But, the button did not do anything. I finally gave up trying and wandered down to Guest Services to ask how to do it. I found out the ability to switch between different TV inputs has been disabled on the televisions. Apparently there were too many "stupid" people calling up for help because they could not get to the TV channels when somebody had pressed the button selecting some empty input. They also had problems with connectors in the back getting broken by the people who did not have a clue what they were doing. Eventually, they disabled the ability to change from the 'standard' channels. You can bring the gadget to watch a movie, but don't be surprised if it does not work. Shabot Posted April 9, 2014 #6 Share Posted April 9, 2014 On the Allure, I found that I couldn't switch to a different HDMI input, but I was able to swap out my cable for the input they had the TV set to.
