Excellent Customer Service from the Riviera Concierge

On our recent cruise, the Riviera arrived in Barbados 2 hrs. late due to a medical emergency.

We had an independent shore excursion booked for 9 AM. I went to the front desk to ask about the country code for Barbados so that I could let the tour operator know that we had to cancel. I was told to ask the Concierge, Ante who was seated at a desk nearby. He offered to call the vendor for us. Due to his efforts (and a great response from the tour operator who had to find someone to bump to another day) we were able to take a 2 PM excursion instead.

I wrote a nice comment about Ante on the post-cruise eval. I was so impressed as we have been on 14 cruises but this was our first with Oceania. No other cruise line would have helped a passenger with an independent tour. This experience swayed me to book my next cruise while onboard.

I don't have a comparable experience to relate, but we were impressed when we were in Sydney (January 2008). Two couples were planning on dinner at a respected restaurant which had locations at the port (where we were Docked) and one that was further away.

The concierge strongly recommended that we take the cab ride. We did and were delighted with the meal. A highlight was seeing Regatta sail off to Bangkok during our meal ... although we deeply regretted NOT being on board!

It IS different from the concierge helping you with a private tour, but they do indeed help with non-O functions.

Well said, Kathy. We also got a call from the Concierge to tell us the Tour Operator for our private sailing tour, was going to wait for us in Barbados.

Until you mentioned this, I hadn't thought about what a nice gesture that was

They didn't have to do anything, considering we had booked privately.

Hi Catherine, Surprisingly we were the only cruisers booked on Calabaza. I thought there would be some folks from our roll call. The others on the afternoon excursion were all from local hotels. I'm glad you were able to take your excursion too!
