Staying in touch on board?

We are a family of five, so we need to book two cabins. It doesn't look like they will be close to each other. :(

What is the easiest way to contact each other while on board ship? We're so used to cell phones, of course.

We'll have an "early riser" cabin and a "late sleeper" cabin. ;) Just wondering what the easiest way would be for my hubby to find us when he gets out & about.

If you use walkies, get ones with CTCSS or DCS (aka "privacy mode" or "channel guard" or similar). Basically these help keep other groups' conversations from coming through on your radios. (Remember also that nothing said on the walkie is private so don't be stupid, and also please remember to be conscientious of the passengers around you)

There's also the simple concept of using post-it notes or a white board on the cabin door. Presumably you'll have a basic idea of where you're heading.

Hi MaiTaiMary :)

Also, other than post-it notes, dry erase boards, walkie talkies, leaving each

other voice mail messages on your cabin phones, slipping notes under your cabin

doors, etc etc... you can leave notes for one another in your cabin mailboxes as well.

We have tried the walkie-talkie radios but found that they work ok to fair because of the metal in the ship. We use a combination of predetermined meeting places/times and places and post-a-notes. For the evenings, we talk about who what to do what during dinner. The kids also know that they can find Grandma at any bingo or around the casino.

My wife and I text. Costs us .50 to send and .05 to receive. Works well in a pinch, we keep it to a minimum.

DW: stop playing poker

ME: why is there a $300 spa charge on S&S

LOL! Love it :)

Also, to the OP ... why can't you get cabins near each other? Are they so sold out they won't connect them for you? If it's not super full already, they will get you rooms next to each other .....

We are getting a balcony and an inside. I was hoping for two cabins across the hall from each other but I can't find anything. We are sailing on the Miracle.

If you haven't booked already, call Carnival. They have cabins available that don't show on their site. A balcony and an inside across from each other shouldn't be a problem.
