mhb1757 Posted April 18, 2014 #1 Share Posted April 18, 2014 We will have an overnight in Quebec City before disembarking the Veendam in June. Our flight home doesn't leave until 5pm on disembarkation day. We are trying to decide what to do until flight time. I checked the cruise terminal website and it said they had facilities to hold luggage for $4/bag at the terminal that is open until 5pm. Has anyone seen/used this? I haven't seen anyone on these boards mention this and the website didn't look like it got updated very often so I wasn't sure how reliable that info was. I also found a good rate at the Hilton adjacent to the convention center in QC. I thought about booking a room there and just leaving the ship after dinner the last night and spending the night at the Hilton so we could sleep in that morning while everyone else is leaving the ship and have a place to leave luggage while we tour a bit before heading to the airport. Does anyone know how far it is from the dock to the Hilton? Is it walkable? Will they let us disembark the evening before if we take our luggage? Thanks. Rare mskaufman Posted April 18, 2014 #2 Share Posted April 18, 2014 We're on the Veendam in late June and will be interested in the $4 day option to hold luggage.
p_mori7 Posted April 19, 2014 #3 Share Posted April 19, 2014 From the Pier to the Hilton is about a mile walk. Uphill. On cobblestone streets. If you want to stay at the Hilton, I suggest you take a cab from the Pier. :)
mhb1757 Posted April 19, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted April 19, 2014 Thanks P Mori 7. I think you are right. If we do the Hilton it will be a cab!! This girl ain't dragging luggage uphill on the cobblestones!!
PeteBull64 Posted April 30, 2014 #5 Share Posted April 30, 2014 I live in Quebec City....Hilton isnt really walkable from pier with luggages. There are a few nice hotels down the hill near the cruise terminal... Auberge St-Antoine is probably the most charming around there...dunno about the price u are looking for. The restaurant there is also amazing : http://www.saint-antoine.com/en/ Hotel Le priori is also highly recommendable http://www.hotellepriori.com/hotel-le-priori-boutique-hotel-le-priori-en.html Enjoy one of the nicest city in North America P

We are so excited about our first visit to Quebec City!! We have booked a walking tour of the old city. Any other suggestions for "not to be missed" experiences? PeteBull64 Posted May 1, 2014 #7 Share Posted May 1, 2014 Quebec City is not a place where when you will find spectacular disney like attractions...I think all tours are overrated. Maybe a simple city tour ( Bus or horse ) but thats it. Quebec City is really a place to walk. Its European old city inside the 'walls' is absolutely magnificient. Lots of parcs and beautiful houses all walkable distance. A few nice museums too but not my thing. Also a LOT of wow restaurants.
Jolie_Cruiser Posted May 1, 2014 #8 Share Posted May 1, 2014 Hi, Don't know if you are a water falls fan but seeing this one might be interesting: Chute Montmorency http://www.sepaq.com/ct/pcm/index.dot?language_id=1 and it is close to Québec City... Stayed there for a non cruise visit to Quebec City and it was the most wonderful and charming lodging with walkable access to most everything and easy to arrange car service for sights just out of town. :)
Rare mskaufman Posted May 11, 2014 #10 Share Posted May 11, 2014 If we could leave our luggage at the pier, we would be interested in going to the Citadel. We have a mid afternoon flight so would be able to do something in the morning if we did not have to tote luggage. Any experience with leaving luggage at the pier. mike x ftc Posted May 11, 2014 #11 Share Posted May 11, 2014 Could someone help, how far is it from the cruise port to the airport? Is transportation fairly easy? Taxi's, buses etc? Thanks
cnd crsr Posted May 11, 2014 #12 Share Posted May 11, 2014 It is about half an hour by cab and costs approximately $35. Your ship probably has a shuttle bus, you can ask about the cost.
mike x ftc Posted May 11, 2014 #13 Share Posted May 11, 2014 Excellent. Thanks very much. Just starting to plan next year, trying to decide whether to start or finish in Quebec or incorporate it as part of a roundtrip. Decisions decisions!!
