Venice cruise ships over 96,000 tons banned

Cruise ships at 96,000 tons and over will be banned from the Venice lagoon effective November 30th this year.

Old news and now it Jan of 2015 and that may change also.

It is but it isn't. The ban was lifted a couple months ago by a regional Italian court.

So it's old news that the ban has been lifted, for now anyway. So why are you posting under a heading saying cruise ships banned?

We just returned from a week long trip on the Fantasia and I have to say sailing out of Venice was spectacular. The ship did stir up a lot of sand though, so I can't blame them for wanting to ban large ships from sailing thorugh Venice.
