Shuttle from JFK to Cruiseport

FYI for comparison a NY yellow cab will charge a flat $52.50 plus toll(if any) and tip. The toll is about $5.50 and the tip should be 15-20%. This is per cab not per person. Yellow cabs at the airport are plentiful and readily available. From the port to the airport there will be lines for cabs. A car service(a car you pre-arrange or call when you are ready charge about the same) see as an example http://www.carmellimo.com or http://www.dail7.com

We need to know which cruise you're on. No one can give you proper advice without that information, because while most Princess cruises depart from Brooklyn, there are some that depart Manhattan...at least one this year on 7/23 that I can see taking a quick glance at the port schedule.

By the way, the reason I had suggested in an earlier post that you also post this on the Princess board is because you specifically asked about the Princess transfers...and you're going to get more Princess cruisers who know that information posting on the Princess board than here.

Just to add on what's been said, exact date/day of the week of cruise out of Brooklyn (or, Manhattan pier) and scheduled arrival time of your JFK flight (domestic & not international, correct ??) - more details, following is generalized as a rough guide only.

There's no toll to Brooklyn pier, shorter route via local streets - N. Conduit Ave to Linden Blvd or Atlantic Ave. with traffic lights - a scenic tour thru various neighborhoods (not all yellow taxi drivers like or do this, lots of stop-n-go and local truck traffic, BTW) - 13 miles at 55 minutes, add 20 to 30 minutes for traffic/road conditions. Highway route via Belt Parkway is also scenic, 24 miles & Google Map/Waze showing 50 minutes - MUCH more expensive in a metered yellow taxi if they take this route, keep in mind that long-term road reconstruction project on the Belt Pkwy resulting in narrowed lanes & sometimes midday lane closure and the Mill Basins Draw Bridge (raised for passing local ship traffic) - add extra 30 minutes for travel.

IMO, book a car service online like Dial7 or Carmel (our preferred) to Brooklyn pier, quoted $41 for the trip before coupon discount, no tolls - add 15 to 20% tip so under $50 - a better choice over yellow taxi on a metered fare, especially with traffic. If it's a 6 AM weekend red eye arrival, it's POSSIBLE to get from JFK to Red Hook's Brookyn Terminal in 30 to 40 minutes, just don't count on it.

Or, check with Princess/board on this Forum on their options & costs - if you are delayed in air/ground traffic flying in on the day of the cruise, they should/might cover you & hold the ship's sailing for your bus as a group. Lastly, do ya have travel interruption insurance.

opps yes I made the mistake of not looking at the cruise line.

I agree use a car service. No reason to let the meter just run. Its at least $75 if the yellow cab takes the long way.

At the cruise terminal call the car service your self. The pier has contracted with a car service but it charges TWICE what a self booked will charge.

yes I understand that the OP has made other arrangements but this may help somoen else.
