Can anyone recommend a decent casual restaurant that is reasonably close to the cruiseship dock?

My two faviorites close to the pier are often patronized by the islanders but they are probably not what you are looking for if you are looking for caribbean or creole fare. Chesterfields at Dock Maarten on the water is about a five minute walk from the port area and it serves seafood and burgers and serves many boaters and local downtown workers as well.

 

My other faviorite is in the Holland House Hotel on the boardwalk on Great Bay in Philipsburg and is about a 20 minute walk from the ship. It's more upscale and has free wifi for customers. The food and views are both great.

Chesterfields was recommended to us by a shop manager but we just did our typical "Greenhouse". We always do Greenhouse or Kangaroo Court. Thinking of trying Chesterfiields maybe in June. How far of a walk is it if coming back from town? How far past Greenhouse/Bobby's Marina water taxi?

 

Anyone have experience at Dan's Chocolate Factory? Is it new?

I would say its about a 5 minute walk from Chesterfields to Bobby's Marina. Chesterfields has a nice view of the water.
