It is amazing that this doesn't happy more often

Recommended Posts

Every time I hear of ships stalling (more now than ever) due to equipment issues, My first reaction is "that's why I sail Royal".

They don't seem to have the issues that other lines seem to have.

When I heard about The new NCL stalled in NY harbor, I just assumed it was faulty equipment.

I had no idea that it was due to this!!!

I always secretly wish that our ship won't be able to dock so that we can stay on board longer. :D

(Kidding … sort of.) I am certainly sympathetic to the plight of everyone effected by the delay. It would be very frustrating to stand in line for hours and then see people cutting the line. And the delay to the new passengers waiting to board. Not to mention the poor whale.

Not so much fun if all your stuff is packed and gone....just a headache..not a good time!

well i keep my swim suit and flip flops in my carry on and my valuables ., so id be cool with it, and go with the flow as long as the restaurants and pools are open.

It does happen to Royal, just they have been blessed as to the magnitude.

Aboard the Splendour headed back to Galveston one cruise a oil line on one generator blew resulting in a small fire. We were delayed about 5 hours returning.

The Grandeur smacked the dock in Costa Maya and ripped a hole big enough to see in cabins. Passengers had the option to fly home or return to port a day late.

The Rhapsody left us dead in the water for half a day on one 7 night trip.

Aside from the Triumph, and what it taught all mass market cruise lines the industry has been blessed with few major problems for US departures.

Jewel, I believe, showed up in a Canadian port several years ago with a dead whale on her bulbous bow - happened in 2004, a 60' finback whale.

The Sapphire Princess did as well, back in July of 2010 during the Alaska cruise season.
