Guera Posted May 23, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 23, 2014 Hello, newbie cruiser here. We will be on Golden Princess on May 31st to Alaska flying in to Seattle. Both my husband and I will have a carry on bag and checked bag. We have booked an inside cabin so I am concerned about space. I have read elsewhere on this board that we should bring collapsible luggage and store it under the bed. We do not have any collapsible luggage (except for a duffle bag type suitcase that I think is too small for our needs and we only have one of them). We are trying to avoid having to buy more luggage, but I am wondering if our current luggage will fit under the bed? The largest bag, when laid down is approximately 13 inches tall. If it will fit then the other checked bag will as well and we can put our carry on bags inside of them when all is unpacked. TIA for any advice you can give!:)
chengkp75 Posted May 23, 2014 #2 Share Posted May 23, 2014 If it's 13" deep, I'm assuming it's a hard sided case? If it is, or even a soft sided case that opens like a book, you can store them under the bed opened.
Guera Posted May 23, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted May 23, 2014 It is not hard sided, but plastic insert covered by fabric, the top does open like a book, so probably 11-12 inches with the top open. Thanks for your help.
t_car Posted May 23, 2014 #4 Share Posted May 23, 2014 You will not have any problems. We have brought up to 28" size luggage on our longer cruises, and they have fit under the bed.
Rare Essiesmom Posted May 23, 2014 #5 Share Posted May 23, 2014 Princess cabins have wonderful, open closets. If you can't get the largest bag under the bed, there will be plenty of room to stand it up in the closet. EM

Daisyloo Posted May 24, 2014 #7 Share Posted May 24, 2014 You will be fine. We always put our wheeled carry-ons inside our larger cases and slide them under the bed. Never had a problem, even when we had us and our 2 sons in a verrandah cabin. We all had a large case and a carry-on and no problem storing them. 5326jan Posted May 24, 2014 #8 Share Posted May 24, 2014 If you feel an obstacle, just lift the bed slightly and push them under. As someone else stated, the closet is huge so you can also store it there :)
