B2B ~ Independence ~ April 20th & 26th: My Diary

Recommended Posts

We got off Indy on 4/20! We were on the 8-day (same itinerary as your second week). We would have loved to been able to do that 6-day as well. Some day...sigh...

Lots of good hints on beaches!

Looking forward to more of the review and photos!

Sorry we missed you!! This is a great B2B. Heck.....all B2B's are great! Hope you can do that one of these days!

First we went to CVS to pick up a couple of things we needed. There is a nice CVS right there on the waterfront.

I can't begin to know how many times that CVS has bailed us out because of things that we forgot at home.

Isn't that the truth!! It's like a grocery store, too. Funny......we got our long receipt and coupons, but they were all in Spanish!

I met DJ a few days ago on Independence. He wasn't my stateroom attendant but he stopped to chat to my mum and I. He was sooooo lovely and we were gutted he hadn't been our attendant. Glad he was so good on your cruise :)

Just LOVE reading your reviews!

Thank you for taking the time to post, such great details of each evening. I actually feel like I was apart of cocktail hour in the CL each evening! :)

Did you get to spend much time talking to Mario? If so, did you happen to tell you which ship he was going to next?

Thanks Again!

Michael

"DJ's in the House!" That's what he always said! He was a great cabin steward.....one of the very best. Sorry we couldn't have him for week two.

Yes....Mario sat with us in the CL and we chatted a couple of times. What a nice guy! When he got off the Indy....he was going to his condo in Miami for a couple of days, then he was doing the TA on the Liberty. After that....I don't know......we didn't go into that.

Maybe we'll see you in the CL one of these days!!

OK....back on the ship in San Juan. Made it to the WJ before the hoards, so that worked out well.

At 2 o'clock, and just in time for sail away, we met Al and Phyllis at the golf course for a little friendly golf challenge. A match of best ball.

The teams:

The course proved challenging. We got off to a great start, but in the end Phyllis "Nicklaus" (ringer) pulled out a win for her team. That was a lot of fun. There WILL be a rematch in the future!

From here, I went over to the Flowrider to snap a few shots. That's always fun to watch.

The relaxation of the cabin was calling, so we spent time there this afternoon. I finally finished the Tom Clancy book I was reading....all almost 800 pages of it!

CL for drinks and it was formal night.

Franca.....the cruise buddy that we were trying to surprise....was supposed to be traveling with her friends and cruise agent, Doris and her husband, Kaz. They came to the CL tonight so that we could meet. That was nice.

And we're off to dinner......if the darned elevator would ever come!

DSC03648_zpsfffbdf1c.jpg

Dinner was good tonight. John and I both got the Prime Rib. We never eat beef at home.....only on cruises....then we go wild! Al and Phyllis both got the lobster and they said it was just OK. I don't get that much myself any more. It's just not that good. Sorry.

We had a variety of desserts.....nothing too memorable.

We went down to the casino after dinner to use our Spin to Wins. We, of course, won nothing. We took that as a sign that we should leave, and we did. Bedtime was calling.

Jane, thank you for the review, my DW and I will be on the Independence in November. Just wanted to ask if you had pictures of the wine/bar menus?

Thanks again,

Luis

Sorry Luis....I do not have those. You will love the Indy! Have a great cruise in November!

"John and I both got the Prime Rib."

I to gave up on the lobster. Prime Rib on Freedom was the best I've ever had.

I was also a Max's Mom....my Max was a long haired daschund, all red.

Here is another picture of Nizar. Anyone see a pattern here?

Yes I do see a pattern... A concierge working incredibly hard for his guests!

Jo.....you are right!

I heard some guests talking to him last week - they were so rude and disrespectful to him about something someone else had done, yet his calm and charming demeanour never once changed. Such a lovely and hard-working man. I do hope he is my concierge in November, by far the best my mum and I have ever come across :)

Friday ~ May 2nd ~ Labadee

Yet another beautiful day. We have had THE best weather this whole trip.

The coffee machine was not working this morning, so I hoofed it down to the Café Promenade for my coffee and journal writing. Hey this place is very nice in the mornings. I never saw it crowded. Great place to get coffee in the morning and if you can eat carbs.....quick relaxing place for breakfast.

DSC03656_zpsaf224aa4.jpg

Breakfast was great. We joined Brad and Mary Lynn who were already there. Then Al and Phyllis came a little later.

DSC03657_zps52390af5.jpg

We had plans to meet Al and Phyllis around 10. We docked right on time and were off the ship around 10:15 or so. It was very HOT!

Nizar invited us to Barefoot Beach once again and we were very happy about that. We were greeted by Roberto, the keeper of BB.

We got our same chairs under the trees for maximum shade all day. It was just great. It was not crowded at all and the water was wonderful.
