We are going on the Navigator of the Seas leaving Sun 5/25. This will be the first time we have gone out of Galveston. We are leaving today 5/24 and driving to Kemah, TX. ummgood Posted May 24, 2014 #3 Share Posted May 24, 2014 (edited) Woohoo I am definitely following your review. Also there is a PBS show we love called "Daytripper". It is a travel show where the host goes all over Texas. He did a show on are ah which was great. We are going to try to make a short family trip there sometime. http://thedaytripper.com/daytrip/kemah-tx/ Sent from my iPad using Forums Edited May 24, 2014 by ummgood

05mak05 Posted May 24, 2014 #12 Share Posted May 24, 2014 We're just off the Navigator. We thought the food in the Windjammer was exceptional, however, open tables were really hard to find. The area seemed smaller to us than that on the other Voyager class ships. Let us know what you think. Have a fabulous vacation!

I have a couple of ideas for Cozumel and Grand Cayman but haven't figured out Falmouth yet. Have a fabulous trip!:)

createcolorfun Posted May 24, 2014 Author #15 Share Posted May 24, 2014 Thanks everyone for the support and the following of this review... i hope i can help you guys out. I will be uploading pictures hopefully as i go each day, i tried to do it last year on the allure, but it didn't work to good. Any rate.... A little about this cruise.. i was lucky to get in on the the extra low pricing glitch. My DH had to miss our family Allure last year because he got a new job and when this one came up with the amount we had to pay.... well it was hard to pass up. We have a JS - had to get a forward room, although it is on the port side. We usually get a aft, but we've never had a JS and it's not too up front - 9572. And yes, it's the Grand Caymans, Falsmouth and Cozumel (not that order) or maybe, my memory isn't very good. So we left around 8 this morning (5/24) from Wylie tx (DFW area). We ate breakfast at Denny's about an hour later. I'm not a Denny's fan, but this wasn't bad. So many of our friends said to just drive straight I45, but we took the toll and then joined in the loop to the east. Hardly any traffic that way until we got to TX 225 by the boardwalk. We were doing pretty good time except there was a motorcycle brigade with police escort. Don't know who, what, or why, but it did slow us a bit, so when we hit the toll, it was a breeze. We got to Kemah and the traffic was very slow. Everyone wanted to head over to the island?? We are staying at the holiday inn. It's a little more than we wanted to pay, but i wanted to walk down by the boardwalk.. You can see it from our room... the rides and the boats. one thing, the room is clean and that's a big big plus for me. I will try to load the pictures soon. As far as excursions, we will probably just do the beaches on our own in the caymans and cozumel plus a little shopping. We've been both places but it's been over 10 years. We don't scuba or snorkel so that's out, we just want to lounge around.... We are not into Jamaica that much so again we will just walk around inside the gates. I do want to go to Margaritaville. So as far as excursions, we are kinda boring.... but that's okay, we don't mind. LOL So it's a quite nap right now and boardwalk later. Plus i finally got the cruise compass for this itinerary yesterday... i usually have it highlighted and posted in a spreadsheet. Just for a quick heads up. Thanks ya'll for your support and i'll get back as soon as i can. P.s. i'll try to answer any questions you have!!!

createcolorfun Posted May 24, 2014 Author #18 Share Posted May 24, 2014 Aren't you doing the Cozumel/Georgetown/Falmouth itinerary? Yes, this is the itinerary. I am on this cruise also. We have 1 sea day at the beginning and two at the end, going to be great. Back to packing great! i wish we could pack and leave so close, but that's okay.... this way i can get a little more out of a vacation. LOL And that's for the itinerary update. My ipad would not charge in the car. UGH!! Good thing the ship has internet. We were on the Allure and it was fairly decent. It wasn't the fastest, but it sure wasn't the slowest i've had. For those who need to know... you can skype but it won't let you see, just talk. oh well. I'm sure we will all have a good time!

createcolorfun Posted May 24, 2014 Author #20 Share Posted May 24, 2014 i will try to answer your questions.... djmaurice - i'll get some pictures of deck 12 and hopefully a room. i didn't sign up for the meet and mingle, my dh is kind of a loner, and so i don't like to leave him much. true love!!!! This will be for our 35 year anniversay even though it was in april (no congratulations are in order LOL). anyways, i hope this doesn't open a can of worms, but we will see how he does, He's a smoker so we will be at the smokers "lounge" (haha) up on the upper deck. again, i forget but will relay later. I quit almost 20 years, but that's okay. alright, it's nap time.

createcolorfun Posted May 25, 2014 Author #22 Share Posted May 25, 2014 night time in Kemah. We woke up from a nap and headed to the boardwalk. there are rides, expensive restaurants (went to one, tables available but was told it would be an hour wait???), few shops - there was suppose to be a xmas shop but didn't see it - and carnival games. It was good to just walk around. we did have a bit of a breeze, it was a nice walk. now to print map to port and off to bed after if figure out how to get the pictures loaded LOL. Night all, navigator, here we come! :o
