ian moore Posted May 26, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 26, 2014 We are going on a med. cruise with Princess next year and we are embarking in Barcelona. We would like to stay in Barcelona a couple of days before embarking but would like to stay in a good hotel (4* minimum) and would like to be quite close to the port and the main part of the city (which we are understand is La Ramba). All advice appreciated (again!) Ian and Emily Moore

Also a short walk to the beach and also convenient near the Rambla for a walk but without being to close to it. Anything further, like the Sagrada you might want to consider public transport or a taxi. There are an awful lot of hotels in the Rambla area, from hostel to a bit better. The most of them aren't very attractive and/or high priced just because they are on or near the Rambla. Besides the Rambla isn't that safe at night. We had absolutely no problems in Las Ramblas last year at night. There were plenty of locals and tourists milling about. We loved it.

eandj Posted May 28, 2014 #5 Share Posted May 28, 2014 Look at Hotel Jazz. Just a couple blocks from Las Ramblas and Catalunya Square. It is modern, smaller and well priced. Far enough off the busy area to keep it quiet. A quick 10 min. cab ride to the port. When you arrive BCN you can take the aerobus to Cat Square and walk to the hotel easily. Very cost efficient. We did not find anything dangerous in the evenings. As in other European tourist cities, pick pocketing can be a problem...day or night. Just be smart and aware. You can find names and locations of hotels here. Read recent reviews on tripadvisor. Many get better rates by emailing the hotel directly and/or using their websites. As opposed to booking sites. http://www.barcelona-tourist-guide.com/
