kgerkin Posted May 30, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 30, 2014 What a shocker! I've cruised on Carnival 11 times and have never earned anything free other than a reduced rate through Carnival Players Club. Several years ago, we paid for a babysitter to come with us (she was actually a friends 17 year old daughter). In my email today, she got an offer for a free inside cabin that she can redeem 2 times. I called Carnival and they said they think its because of what she spent on board....which can't be true because I paid for everything. They are looking into it..... I saw all of the threads on free cruises and thought I would post this. What a disappointment to finally get the "free cruise" email only to find out its not for me to use.... Hmmmmm :( K
celticd1 Posted May 30, 2014 #2 Share Posted May 30, 2014 OK, that would be a shocker for sure! YOU paid for her cruise, a 17 year old at the time so obviously no huge gambling or drinking bill...guess that rules those things out. It has to be a random thing. For your sake I hope YOU get to redeem the free cruise. Good luck!
Laurab23 Posted May 31, 2014 #3 Share Posted May 31, 2014 I think they are trying to get back people that have not cruised with them in a few years and are not worrying about the loyal cruisers they already have. Pretty sad move on Carnivals part. Why not reward the cruisers that keep coming back. Laura

Laura I cruised for New Years this year and got my letter in Feb. so I don't think it to get people back cruising with them. I think it is totally random. There was a long thread back in Feb/March trying to figure out why some got letters and some didn't. There was no rhyme or reason as to why. That being said, I took advantage and I have 24 more days until my cruise. Good luck to the OP that they honor your letter!
Rare Shippy Posted May 31, 2014 #5 Share Posted May 31, 2014 ...at least I think it is. Cruises out of Southern California....which is great for us. About 20 different dates for 3 or 4 night cruises. Inside room free...which I would not do... BUT SUITES ARE ONLY $300. The dates go from June until December. I think we are going to book the 4 night, November 9th one. That is the Jewel concert one. My guess is that eventough 17....she snuck off & gambled. This offer is definitely from the Casino Players Club. I assume they would not say that on the phone to you because that would be admitting that their staff on your cruise was not enforcing the age regulations. BigRed93 Posted June 1, 2014 #6 Share Posted June 1, 2014 On our recent cruise we shared a breakfast table with a couple who were on their free cruise from the offer, and they hadn't cruised in 25 years. I'm not sure that their gambling habits were the reason. So I'm starting to believe the totally random, old passenger lists. Laura You may be right, but I got the free offer when I was already booked on a cruise, even though I haven't sailed with Carnival for 3.5 years... I booked the free one in front of it and am now sailing back-to-back! Cool!
kamari Posted June 2, 2014 #9 Share Posted June 2, 2014 Definitely not an old list. My family members took their 1st cruise and couple of years ago and have been offered two free cruises. I'm not happy. I have sailed with them since the early 90's and have never been offered a free cruise. I don't think its random either. If you cruised with them two years ago and haven't return, more than likely you will be offered a free stateroom.
kgerkin Posted June 5, 2014 Author #10 Share Posted June 5, 2014 The offer came in an email to my email address. We had associated my email address with all of our bookings. My cruise rep at Carnival is still looking into it. I think you guys are right that its either random, or they are reaching out to people that haven't cruise in awhile. Its good for those that are getting the offers so maybe one day we'll be that lucky! Karen
CheckersMidwest Posted June 5, 2014 #11 Share Posted June 5, 2014 Our letter came in the mail. It was on Carnival letterhead and in a envelope marked Carnival. When I logged onto their site to see what was available, there were over 16 pages of cruises to choose from. Short 5 day as well as 8 days. Alaska, Caribbean, multiple departure ports to choose from. Inside cabin was free and a $70 pp upgrade fee to go to a balcony. Our first cruise was May 2012. So not using an old list. It was a promo where the computer chose VIFP numbers. There was also a promo from the casino that was running at the same time. It gave free cabins but had specific dates and sailings.
Rayefan Posted June 5, 2014 #12 Share Posted June 5, 2014 I think I have about 14 Carnival cruises under my belt in 11 years with Carnival and I got Two Free cruise offers in the past 3 weeks. The first one came in the mail and I booked for next month. Then yesterday there was the another offer online in My Offers and I booked for October. These offers were the very FIRST time I have ever been offered such a deal. Most likely random Casino Players (I play the penny machines and not a lot at a time) at least that is what I think. kvlivin4jc Posted June 6, 2014 #13 Share Posted June 6, 2014 My husband and I have taken 11 cruises with Carnival in the past 3 years and have only ever received a voucher for $25 to spend in the casino but had to book by a certain time and we didn't get to use it.
