Quebec City by foot - detailed itinerary

Recommended Posts

Thank you "JP" for the wealth of information! We will be there in September & will follow your leads.

We also want to take the public bus on a day trip to Montmorency Falls, so we can't wait to read your blog on visiting the falls as well!

Thank you!!!

I'll be honnest, I don't think I'll do that part... my blog is from 2006 already :)

But if I find the time, I'll post it on the boards too (a request sometimes gets me going so you MIGHT be lucky).

Hey there!

Have copied your blog details thank you! We'll be in Quebec City for two days in September and are trying to figure out how to best split the walking tour... or perhaps see the falls on the second day.

Not too worried about it - we'll go with the flow, but I will be looking back to see about any advice you have about the falls... :)

Since we are there overnight, what might be the best way to spend the evening?

Thanks for sharing this detailed information with us! I'll be in your fair Quebec City with my daughters (12 and 9) in about 3 weeks. Soooooo excited. We'll be there for the 2 ship days, plus are staying an extra night at Chateau Frontenac. I saw another post where you suggested a ghost tour...do you think that would be good for my girls' ages? Any specific recommendations you'd have for a family? Thanks! :)

Are you staying in Québec an extra day? Because the walking tour and the falls by bus are too much to do for a single day.

No, we will be there two days. (sorry I failed to mention that.) We will walk the city the first day & then do the falls separately on the 2nd.

Thank you!

  • 2 weeks later...

Tilly’s mom was asking on the “Montreal anything” thread:

….

Do you know who does the day trip to Quebec and the waterfalls that Viator sells? If we do that the day we sail, what do you suggest we see our full day there?

....

I took the « Grand Tour of Old Quebec » a walking tour which was enjoyable and informative with this company :

For the Viator tour you are asking this might be the company:

If you only have one day in Québec City, I would definitely concentrate on visiting Old Quebec with a guide to give you some history. Montmorency Fall is nice, very high but quite narrow (especially if you have seen Niagara Falls) and you can go there by public transport.

I would only do the Montmorency Fall if you still have time after visiting Old Quebec.

To give you a preview, here is a port guide written by a fellow cruiser (free and no publicity):

An update of this guide is supposed to come out around June 30th 2014.

Québec City is beautiful, I am sure you will enjoy it.

In my previous post I was suggesting Toms Port Guide. The 2014 version just came out today. It is much bigger (40 pages longer) and contains info about walking tours, bus routes, driving tours, maps, GPS coordinates, different docks etc. Enjoy:
