sail7seas Posted June 28, 2014 #26 Share Posted June 28, 2014 We're thinking of sailing HAL for the first time and just saw this thread. Is Happy Hour just for repeat cruisers or can first-timers also attend? Happy Hour is for anyone who wishes to partake. You'll see it in Daily Program. :)
RuthC Posted June 28, 2014 #27 Share Posted June 28, 2014 ...we arranged get togethers during Happy Hour--not Meet and Greet. What do you see as the difference between the two? Isn't a Meet & Greet just a get-together by another name?
localady Posted June 28, 2014 #28 Share Posted June 28, 2014 (edited) What do you see as the difference between the two? Isn't a Meet & Greet just a get-together by another name? During our last TA a group of CCer's met just about nightly to enjoy the 2 for 1 happy hour. It actually was so enjoyable to see who would be joining the party, as each night brought a different mix of CCer's. We had a huge roll call, the nightly group was far fewer, yet all were welcome. :D Edited June 28, 2014 by localady
Nanner Posted June 29, 2014 Author #29 Share Posted June 29, 2014 Ruth, as the OP, what I meant was that I arranged the normal morning M&Gs with HAL. What was no longer allowed is the reserving of an area of the Crows Nest during Happy Hour for just a social, near end of cruise, farewell party. It's a 40-plus day cruise, so it would be nice to gather for a final time. If we were doing scenic cruising that day, I could easily understand a reluctance to allow us to descend en masse. It is not something that makes me want to leave HAL, but on an open sea day we have notified HAL in advance of this kind of gathering without issue. We will be on the Maasdam, which has a decent sized lounge. I do think I will speak with the beverage manager and see if we can arrange something once on board, but if it doesn't fly, we can always do an informal thing and try to spread the word. Thanks for the feedback, everyone.
