bouhunter Posted July 3, 2014 #27 Share Posted July 3, 2014 Prints are between $20 and $25 each. Which is ridiculous and one reason we never buy them.
Cruzin-K Posted July 3, 2014 #28 Share Posted July 3, 2014 I agree that their process isn't very good. I wonder if the image people use the same IT department as Royal Caribbean's website  :D We ordered the photo CD and all prints when we were on board the Allure. I liked enough of my pictures to make it worth it to buy the whole package. The photos from the prohibition party never made it onto the CD. I didn't know this until I got home. I had the hard copies, which I scanned in, but I still wanted the original digital files. After several e-mails back and forth with the company, I received a CD in the mail with the digital files - in full color with no border (the prints were sepia toned with a "spirit party" border around them). After requesting that they fix the problem, I received the files with the sepia border, but the photo was still in full color. smh  I doubt I'll get a photo package again. The Allure was a special case with so many photo opportunities. Still, the quality of the photos isn't very good (Princess does theirs MUCH better), and the digital files are not full professional size files. Most were under 3 megabytes. Helbel Posted July 3, 2014 #29 Share Posted July 3, 2014 I personally had a bad experience with purchasing my photos on a CD. After getting home from my cruise, I tried to download the photos to enable me to print them out. Lucky for me our virus software identified a nasty worm virus was on the CD. I contacted the company who produces the photos onboard & they requested a screen shot to identify that a virus was present. I sent all required information & they did not respond to my emails. After sending about 20 emails to this company, they didn't bother to respond to my concerns. They do not provide any phone numbers to contact them either. RCL was unhelpful as they do not own the company who provides the photography!!

TheDivineMrsM Posted July 3, 2014 #32 Share Posted July 3, 2014 It surprises me that people pay such high prices for photos these days when it seems everyone has a cell phone or digital camera to snap a picture. I've always been a picture-taker. Not purchasing an expensive photo package (or a drink package) is one way I plan to keep costs down. We splurged on a balcony room and plan to do excursions which, for us, were the better choices of where the money goes. I have seen people take pictures of pictures (in other venues) to get around paying the price of the original snapshot.
loubetti Posted July 3, 2014 #33 Share Posted July 3, 2014 Question: What produces the highest percentage profit margin on cruise ships? 1. Selling cabins 2. Selling booze / drinks 3. Selling specialty restaurants 4. Selling other merchandise on board 5. Selling shore excursions 6. Selling photos A $25 8x10, with materials, waste and labor, costs around $1-1.50 to produce. Okay, soda is also a very high margin.

Okay, soda is also a very high margin. Casino is a very large profit center. Alcohol is big too. Depending on the demographic, merchandise profit can exceed alcohol. This from a Hotel Director. jarr0618 Posted July 10, 2014 #37 Share Posted July 10, 2014 We purchased the unlimited CD photo package ($249) on our June 29 Navigator cruise. Took the grandkids and thought it was a good idea to capture all the 'moments' for their parents. Picked up the CD along with my free photo I had ordered earlier on the last night of the cruise with no wait time and no problems. When I opened the CD at home all 53 photos were there! Don't know if I will do this again but at about $20/photo, thought it was a great deal!
