Going on the Gem in August. We had a AFT Penthouse and we upgraded to a Haven Courtyard Penthouse for $380.00 total. Is the cost of the upgrade worth it.

 

Also we are traveling with family members not in the Haven area and wanted to know if they can come to our room to visit. I assume they cannot go into the Haven pool area.

Family CAN visit your room; however you are correct they can NOT go into the Haven areas.

Was it worth it? Heck yes!! I was on the Gem last August in 2-BR Haven suite! Best money ever spent on a cruise!

 

As far as family visiting in your suite, they are welcome to do so...but you will have to escort them as the Haven are has limited access! In regards to the Haven pool area, they can briefly tour it, but they will be asked to leave by the Concierge or Haven Butler. We had guests come up to tour it and the Haven Butler did ask they they be escorted back to our suite after about 5 minutes.

Assuming you got the 2BR penthouse, it does have that other small br. There are two cabins that do not have that extra bedroom though.

$380 is not bad for Haven area... but the view from Aft is good too :) It will be nicer in the Haven with all that comes with... so I think you got a good deal.

Thank you for all the information. This really helped. We have just the one bedroom since it is just my Wife and I. Layout looks the same except the extra bed room.

 

We got the last room unless we could pay for a Garden Villa which we can't.

Still a great room. And yes, you can bring all the family up there you want. And if only 1-2, they could join for dinner in your room if that is your thing.

 

Hopefully you can take advantage of some breakfast and lunch in Cagney that will not bother your other family members.

 

As to AFT vs that Penthouse - I would take that anyday. We have done aft and not so thrilled with it. We love the Penthouse since the bedroom is TOTALLY separate, killer bath and great sitting area for you and/or company.
