funinthesun1964 Posted July 31, 2014 Author #52 Share Posted July 31, 2014 (edited) As promised here is a scanned copy of Embarkation Day Fun Times. I forgot to say above that we were in the Jubilee Dining Room. 8:15 pm seating. I did mention our waiters Glenn, Raymond, and Joseph, but one more time - they were very good. Also, wanted to mention that we noticed very many families with children, as expected during a summer cruise. However, we also noticed young married couples. I think the CD said that we had 5 or 7 newlywed couples on board. We saw some couples that looked so young! I couldn't believe it. They didn't look 25 years of age, if they were, that would have shocked me. We met one young lady at the serenity deck, she said she was 21, but her boyfriend/husband was 25. They were thinking of doing a Jeep excursion at one of the ports but she was too young, her boyfriend would have to drive. lol. Such problems. I slept very well the first night. I was so tired and took my sleep meds as normal. The bed was very comfortable. The cabin temperature was very cool. In fact, cold. I know some people like a cooler temp, but I was freezing. There was no way to adjust it to make it warmer. Well, there was, but it was turned all the way to the right, it wouldn't move any more. We found a nice comforter in the closet and made use of it. DH went to stuff our empty suitcases under the bed and found a couple of candy wrappers and a bunch of dust. I didn't take a picture. So, not thinking there is much cleaning going on under the beds. The carpet had heavy traffic soil area, but other than that it was cleaned satisfactorily. Bathroom was clean. I wouldn't eat off the floor, but it was clean. We had met our Steward, Matin, shortly after sail away. He knew us and called us by our name right away. Amazing how they do that. He was friendly and asked us how our day went when we say him on a couple of other occasions. We asked for ice right at the time we first met and he brought it right away and refilled the ice bucket 2x per day from then on. He did forget our pool towels twice, one time we found him and got towels and the other time we rented them on serenity deck, as there is an attendant there with pretty yellow towels. I am sorry that I neglected to get a picture of Matin. Attaching Fun Times for day one....hope this works, it's been a while since I've done this with a PDF. No Blue Iguana Cantina on the Fantasy, only the taste sample from their restaurants on the newer/upgraded ships provided at the taste bar.

funinthesun1964 Posted August 1, 2014 Author #62 Share Posted August 1, 2014 We woke after a restful night's sleep. DH wanted to go to the gym. I was too lazy, so I stayed behind and just relaxed. I did go to the gym on two other days, but this was just not the day. When he returned, we headed to the brunch. This was offered in the Celebration Dining Room. It opened for business at 8:30. We were good to go. Not many people in the atrium bar yet... Folks starting to head into the brunch In my opinion this was the prettier of the two dining rooms. I had the huevos rancheros as I most often get for brunch and it was good as usual. I also had the chicken sausage and cheesy grits. DH had an omelet and a few other items. It was all tasty and service was good on this morning.
funinthesun1964 Posted August 1, 2014 Author #63 Share Posted August 1, 2014 Sorry but the larger font is gone and it won't let me change it back. LOL, oh well. After breakfast we headed out to claim a spot on the serenity deck. I went to change into my swimsuit, then came back and DH went to change after. I am telling you, it was HOT. Not only hot but humid of course, the combined temp must have been in the 100's. We grabbed some burgers for lunch, relaxed. 3:00 pm came and we went to Cleopatra's Piano Bar for tea time. We hadn't done this since our 2nd cruise and decided to give it a try. We sat with a woman from Cincinnati and enjoyed some tea. I had a small cucumber sandwich, I found that the bread was dry. I also had some fruit with some sugary glaze, that was good. DH raved over the chocolate cake, said it tasted the same as the room service chocolate cake. funinthesun1964 Posted August 1, 2014 Author #64 Share Posted August 1, 2014 After tea time, we headed into the casino. Big mistake. Between the two of us, we lost $50 in about 40 minutes...or less. Boo. We decided to play some golf...it was so windy up there, I thought I would get blown away! We walked back in the ship then, to get a break from the wind. funinthesun1964 Posted August 1, 2014 Author #65 Share Posted August 1, 2014 We decided to walk through the gym, my husband was telling me about the windows in front of the elliptical machine. He said there was some plywood over some of the windows instead of the shades. I wanted to go see for myself. I found this a little odd...why didn't they replace the shades if they were worn out? Some of the other shades needed replaced, I can tell you that. I couldn't believe that Carnival couldn't afford to repair or replace the window or the shade, whatever the deal was. The third guy from the left on the treadmill is one of the comedians, pretty sure... Back outside again -- We found a cozy place to sit on some cushioned chairs, and we overlooked the pool area. We relaxed here for about 30 minutes.

funinthesun1964 Posted August 1, 2014 Author #70 Share Posted August 1, 2014 Before dinner, we went to the Majestic Bar Lounge area and I ordered a French Martini. It was time for dinner then, so I just carried my drink in to finish with my dinner. I had the prime rib, but could only eat half of it. For the appetizer I had the mushrooms AND the pumpkin soup. Delicious. I did order the diet banana cake, but could only eat a couple bites of that as well. TOO MUCH FOOD! Of course the waiters did their dance "That's Amore". After dinner, we saw Dat Band, performing Motown music near the casino. They were a good band. We then went to get our seats for the comedy show at 10:00. James Johann was funny and entertaining. We hit the sack around 11:30. Another day gone. It was a fun one though! Tomorrow, we go to Freeport.
