Riemercruisin Posted August 1, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 1, 2014 Quick question. Has anyone recently been able to call and change their assigned cabin when picking a guaranteed one? We have just been placed over the casino on the Breeze and there are other cabins in the same category available in better locations on the same deck. After calling the customer service agent said it can't be done, but I read here that some people (in the past) were able to do it. Before I call back; has anyone have luck with this recently? MszKitty Posted August 1, 2014 #2 Share Posted August 1, 2014 Unfortunately, that's the chance you take when booking guarentee rooms. That's why its a cheaper rate.
cruise_girl2002 Posted August 2, 2014 #3 Share Posted August 2, 2014 I had a room above the casino once (on the Victory) and never heard anything. You take a gamble on location when doing guarantee.

Your best bet at this point might be to call and ask about the possibility of an upsell to a higher category in a better location.
irishnyc Posted August 2, 2014 #5 Share Posted August 2, 2014 When you book a guarantee you get what you get, and you don't get upset. My 4 year old understands this concept pretty well.

Didn't hurt to try but customer service was correct. Shouldn't be able to move because of the lower rate you paid.

Criticname Posted August 2, 2014 #8 Share Posted August 2, 2014 When you book a guarantee you get what you get, and you don't get upset. My 4 year old understands this concept pretty well. But thus is cruise critic, most people here feel the rules don't apply to them. Or they feel Carnival should bow down to them for they're a legend in their own mind. Saltz Posted August 2, 2014 #9 Share Posted August 2, 2014 At first I was told I was unable to switch but I spoke with a supervisor who allowed me to pick my own cabin. It worked for me last June on Conquest! Just ask for a supervisor.
NavyCruiser Posted August 2, 2014 #10 Share Posted August 2, 2014 Supervisor will say: You "Gambled" with a cheaper rate.... You got cabin over the "Casino"! Jackpot! Poetic Justice....

Some pretty snarky people here. To answer your question, yes I've done it more than once but not on Carnival. That said, keep trying, sometimes it's just a matter of who answers the phone:) Good luck. Edited August 2, 2014 by pspercy
hockeyluver Posted August 2, 2014 #12 Share Posted August 2, 2014 I did it last week, the location I had was ok but I thought what the heck wouldnt hurt to try. So I called back and asked to be put back into the gty pool and they said ok. Love the new location of my gty cabin now!! I got it on my first try ( I probably would have called back a few times, my pvp suggested calling after 9am.)

It's my understanding that the OP wants to PICK a new cabin and not be thrown back into the gty pool. Two different things.
